I was devastated to find out this doctor did not take Medicare. This is absolutely ridiculous that a doctor at the statue does not take Does not take Medicare. With the thousands and thousands of women over the age of 40 that need a doctor like this for multiple reasons is shocking.

Dr Hotckiss does not care about his patients. Very short, rude and unprofessional. I recommend you stay away and seek care elsewhere!

To start, I want to say Dr. Hotchkiss was great. I really did enjoy his care and I can see why HE gets such great reviews.. His office, or more specifically, JUDY (the Office Manager) is an absolute disgrace. Judy and Judy alone is the reason why I will no longer be returning to Dr. Hotchkiss nor will I ever refer a friend or family member to this practice. As a first time mom, I am experiencing aches, pains, and symptoms during my pregnancy I have no idea about. I’m unsure if some of what I have going on is normal or not. This morning, I called in to state that over the weekend, I developed serious persistent pain on my lower left side. The pain was constant and wouldn’t budge despite everything I did. While telling her this, she rudely cut me off, raised her voice, and said “You’re pregnant. You’re going to have aches and pains. You just need to get over it.” I told her I didn’t appreciate her being rude and I was just expressing some concerned considering I had recently had spotting… when I’m 15 weeks pregnant. Again, she cut me off and continued to tell me to suck it up. I asked for her name and she responded “Judy. Would you like to report me for being rude?” I told her yes and asked to speak with a manager which led to her response of “Hi, I am the manager. Report me.” I asked if I could speak to someone else because of her behavior and she said “Nope, you’re only going to talk to me.” I told her she was being incredibly rude and insensitive to someone that was only calling with questions because I had been experiencing pain and spotting. I said that I couldn’t believe she was acting the way she was and I would need to switch providers at this point as now I no longer feel comfortable. All she had to say was “You wanna switch providers? Do it, I don’t care.” So, I did.. I now have an appointment with a new provider closer to home and has been recommended to me by numerous people. So, word to the wise, steer clear of Judy and this office if you can. If Dr. Hotchkiss was willing to let her go, that would be a game changer. Also, if you try to reach the office, good luck getting though. I have witnessed Judy picking up the phone and hanging it up when people call. They don’t check voicemails either so that’s a huge bummer. Sarah is great though. She was always a pleasure and extremely helpful.

I have been going to him for years and wouldn't think of going to another gyn. Absolutely excellent.

I have been going to Dr. Hotchkiss for over 35 years. He is a very caring doctor with an excellent bedside manner, gentle, knowledgeable, and he has been in practice for a long time. I have recommended him to both family members and friends who have also been going to him for years. If I had to complain about anything, it would be that it is sometimes hard to get an appointment because he is so well liked, but he is definitely worth the wait to get an appointment. Dr. Hotchkiss is the best ob/gyn ever, and has delivered two of my children, and I hope he will be able to deliver my grandchildren one day.

I was very skeptical in choosing Dr. Hotchkiss ONLY because I always had midwives and female drs. I was referred to him by a native of the city as i am a navy wife, I have to find new drs. the best way I can. With Tricare, my choices were small matching my preferences. I had started with a dr. in Alexandria but the drive was too far. That is why I switched. I am so glad I did. He is amazing!!! He was so patient and he remembered who I was and not just another patient. He also delivered my 2nd baby and again, I cannot emphasize how wonderful he was. I had concerns that Civista hospital was too small town for me, but nope, wrong again. Everything was wonderful. My ONLY complaints for the office are that sometimes you do have to wait in for your appt for awhile and the nurse practitioner is a little cold which is really disappointing because she is a woman (I expect her to be warmer) but in follow-up, she actually calls you and not the nurses in the office. If you have any doubts about… this office, please don't have any about the Dr. Again, he is wonderful and I want to have another baby while I am here just to make sure he is the dr. I have.
