Dr. Michael David Johnson, MD

He was my 3 rd opinion, for foot/ankle surgery, so glad I was sent to him! He was very knowledgeable, confident, & made me feel very comfortable about the very extensive surgery that I needed & had. Other than having to be non-weight bearing for about 8 weeks, he told me before surgery, so no surprises. It was a fairly pain free recovery. And to go back in 8 months later to do a little more, but again, we knew that was a possibility ahead of time. He is absolutely the best doctor you could ever chose for an ankle/foot surgery!

Dr. Johnson has been a blessing/lifesaver for me. I have been a patient of his for a few years and have had a few surgeries by him. He answers any questions you may have without making you feel rushed. I can’t thank him enough for what he has done to get me back on track.

...good bedside manner really helps promote healing and he doesn’t have any. Look, he is a pretty good physician. He will give you an accurate diagnosis, a realistic prognosis and a thorough explanation of the procedure he’s going to do. But he has a very dry personality and is very condescending to any questions he deems ‘beneath his intelligence.’ His team of wonderful nurses are breath of fresh air after being subjected to this guy’s flat out rudeness. But even though I don’t like the guy, Dr. Johnson is going to do everything possible to make sure you are able to walk better.

He said that my gait was normal and that nothing was wrong with my foot.Actually my gait was slightly unstable and slow. I had my crutch with me but I was carrying it in his office and knew that I would need it outside to prevent a fall. He did not believe that I needed the crutch. One week later I fell in my home due to unstable gait and landed directly on my patellar. An ultrasound revealed a slight incomplete fracture in the knee area. I'm in pain now and really have to be careful. No one likes to fall because it's frightening. I fell again in my home last evening and landed on some furniture. I've not been using my crutch or cane in the home, but walking slowly and holding onto furniture. I won't go back to him, though, because he doesn't believe this patient. He thinks I'm lying about my condition for ulterior motives. I have found a more caring and thorough MD, who takes the time to look at everything related to my complaints, thanks to the Lord.

Essentially told me that he thought I was lying about the amount of pain I was having in my foot from plantar fasciitis and a tendon tear. As professionals we are taught on day one that pain is subjective. I resented him calling me a liar, because I am not. He also indicated that I had ulterior motives for my complaints of pain. Never had a doctor say that to me. He impressed me as being immature with a prideful spirit. His only 11 years of experience shows in his approach to patient care towards me. I think he's young, immature and has no patient empathy. I will never see or refer him, nor allow him to perform any surgery on me.

went to him for consult to be in agreement w/his colleague for amputation/did other leg before and now, completely out of the blue, decided that since I had been awake for 36hrs that I was depressed and now I was going to have to see a shrink after I was told and prepared for this procedure/snotty attitude, holier than thou and thinks that you are an idiot as a patient

Really great doctor. If you are looking for a foot and ankle doctor, choose Dr. Johnson

I have an extremely bad ankle that I dislocated 22 years ago. He did the 4th surgery on it to remove bone spurs. He is up front at letting me know my next option down the road will be a replacement. He calmed my fears. He was accurate in my diagnosis, did great work at fixing it. He is mild mannered and very informative. His residents are on top of what their doing. I highly recommend him. My only flinch was that I was told by the scheduling person that my surgery was at 7am. So I got there at Highlands at 6:30 am. It was not scheduled until 1:45pm. Long day for me. So double check your surgery time!

Dr. Johnson is great. You couldn't ask for a better foot and ankle surgeon. He listens and he gives great advice.
