Dr. Michael James Kushner, MD

I’ve been seeing Dr Kushner for close to 10 years. He has been a big part of my health care. He has always been honest and knowledgeable about my diagnosis. He is up front and explains information so you can understand. I hate to see him retire, but pray he enjoys his retirement. He’s a great doctor

Didn't have to wait long he explained everything he was doing an kept asking if I was ok that made the visit lots better...I would recommend him to anyone

If it were possible to not give him a star, I wouldn’t. He is rude, very unprofessional and has no bedside manner at all. I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone.

I have two brain tumors. One is a small meningioma, the 2nd is deeper inside and is scarring from a vessel that leaked and has been slowly scabbing from the 70s. it is only 4mm. I have had multiple strokes and many Ischemic strokes too. There are cysts scattered all throughout my brain. I was traveling to Doctors in Raleigh and was very frightened regarding my brain. Finally, I found Dr. Kushner just a few miles from my home and I cannot believe what a truly wonderful Doctor, Dr. Kushner is! I walked out of Dr. Kushner's office feeling such relief! He explained everything to me in such a way that after over a year of stress and worry - it was all gone! The fear – That fear – that comes upon you by surprise that only people who are told there is something awful wrong with them know - the gripping, back-bone straightening, “tear starting” feeling of “What do I do? How can I do nothing? What about my family? How can I be doing nothing? I could die?” Dr. Kushner took that… all away! They are all minor things - I am alright and watching & waiting is the right course. HE EXPLAINED "THE WHY" TO ME! Why it is the right thing for me to have to follow up scans (watching) and see if anything happens (waiting). For the first time - I was not just left hanging thinking everything that happened to me was because of my brain. And I have not had that awful fear grip me ever again! He spoke to me – he made sense! Dr. Kushner is not only brilliant - I feel he is an extraordinary communicator to everyone. With me, he started out explaining basic facts about my conditions and went into more detail until I fully understand all the functions of what I should watch for and what I don't have to worry about. One day out of nowhere my vision went crazy. I had double vision. This frightened me to death. I got an emergency appointment with the ophthalmologist and some eye doctor even more specialized in eyes. I had so many different eye exams than I have ever had in my life - there was nothing wrong with my eyes. I was terrified. I went to Dr. Kushner's scared to Death! He talked to me, concerned and calmly. After a discussion, he said, "I can assure you it is not your brain." Wow! Not my brain! What can this be? Then he said, "It is your thyroid." "My thyroid, I don't have one - how can it be my thyroid?" I replied. Dr. Kushner told me to call my GP (General Practitioner) and get a thyroid panel test immediately. I called from my car and was able to stop at the medical office and have the blood drawn on the way home. The next morning I got a call telling me to stop taking the thyroid medication and to come in 3 days later. My thyroid medication was too high for some reason and THAT was the cause of the double vision. In fact, I could have died if I kept taking it. It was really going extremely high. Dr. Kushner's entire staff is professional, efficient, friendly and reassuring. I am so glad I found Dr. Kushner and his office.

I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have found Dr. Kushner! He is like having my own Doctor House! At this point, I am so grateful, and so much better I am just in shock! All I can say is that Dr, Kushner NAILED it! The relief he has brought me, relief I didn't even believe possible ---- I am so incredibly grateful to have switched to him. I was traveling to Raleigh for about 2 years and getting no where - no where - and I was really getting upset, worried - frazzled really, as the symptoms I believed were being caused by the brain tumor were getting worse. Yet I was being told over & over that the brain tumor had not changed. Can you imagine how I was feeling? No answers -- Just nope, not the brain tumor. But Doctor didn't just leave it at that - Oh NO! He deduced the CAUSE! OH YES AN ANSWER! So it wasn't being caused by the Brain Tumor, but something totally unrelated and Doctor Kushner NAILED IT & referred me to my Physician for more testing on something… totally unrelated and was 100% correct! Now just imagine how I feel as all these symptoms are disappearing! Doctor Kushner is MY DOCTOR HOUSE! Thank you so much Doctor Kushner!
