Michael T. Laird, M.D. is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and received his medical degree from University of Health Science in the Chicago Medical School. He completed his residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. He is Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and serves on the Governing Board of the California Orthopedic Association.

A Surgeon that is an Expert at his trade! Intelligent and passionate about his work, great with patients and it just flows from there to an outstanding staff and choice of surgical center. I had reservations about surgery after several poor outcomes from different procedures/doctors over many years. But when my Meniscus tore badly, this was the Doctor EVERYONE recommended. I'm so happy for the outcome, but mostly for the way in which Dr.Laird and his staff treated me. Caring, with Integrity and Good Medicine. Thank you Dr.Laird and your Super awesome Team!

Dr. Laird has replaced both shoulders, one hip and will be doing both knees. I experienced no pain with the first three surgeries. I would not consider anyone else. He is knowledgeable, beyond competent, friendly, kind, and answers any and all questions. I would recommend him to anyone, without reservation.

While running my ankle gave out and I fell and fractured my wrist. Dr. Laird said all I needed was a cast, no surgery. When my cast was off I couldn't bend my wrist and had severe pain. Dr. Laird said no more treatment was needed. I asked if I should have p/t, an MRI, or a referral to a hand specialist ,or a return visit to him. He said no to all and I just had to live with it and maybe with time I could get some mobility back. I went for a second opinion at UCLA and the dr. said based on the original x-rays I should have probably had surgery to repair my wrist. Oh yes, Dr. Laird did give me an exercise to strengthen my ankle when I request it. He said to stand on one foot.

Had fractured knee which he didn't mention and large meniscus tear which a year later..I can't walk at all!!!

Dr. Laird replaced both of my shoulder joints and my right knee. If I were living in a different country and needed to have my left knee replaced, I would return to the SLO area to have him do the surgery. No other orthopedist will every touch my body. He is absolutely the kindest, most caring person I have ever had the good fortune to know.

Dr. Laird has operated on me 3 times, for various injuries. I highly recommend him. Love him and his entire staff.
