Dr. Michael Jay Lustick, MD

Doesn’t truly hear child or parent. Focuses on his own judgmental ideas and his self proclaimed “honesty” is often just biased, uninformed cruelty. Causes more harm than good in struggling family.

Dr. Lustick evaluated my son who was going through extreme mental/emotional difficulties. He had been being hospitalized at Yale for 10 days, and was finishing up a 70 day residential psychological treatment program. Dr. Lustick was the first person to give the correct, although complicated, diagnosis, and was able to refer us to the right treatment center. finally my son's recovery was on the right track. At this point my son is doing much better, doing well in school, and socializing with his peer group. I am extremely grateful for Dr. Lustick's accurate diagnosis and referral.

He was brought (Bought in my opinion) in by the Ansonia school district to conduct an evaluation of my child who had been determined to have an emotional disturbance. Less than 10 minutes into the process he was by his own admission frustrated which was his explanation for his rude, demeaning, oppressive and culturally insensitive behavior. He was very deceptive (for reasons which are very apparent now) when initially asked of his experience and in what areas of the state he has actually worked stating he worked all over the state, making an emphasis on Bridgeport where there is a large minority population further stating "I do not go to the suburbs, I tell them they can find someone else" because of his passion of helping minorities; surprisingly, (but not so much) when visiting his website it list offices in Woodbridge and Westport and although not listed on his website an office in Derby has been found through google search, which leaves me to wonder why this was never mentioned… and/or omitted. Not to mention, why he would have offices in suburban towns if as stated by himself he chooses not to work in those areas...the things that make you go hmmm! Now for the insult on top of injury; in an apologetic attempt to regain trust and proceed he somehow puts his self in the shoes of an African American man as a Jewish American which in my opinion can simply not be compared following that up with "I am racist" ?? at which point I am at a lost for words and totally blown away which at this point I think goes without saying, the buck stopped there! This is by far the Worst encounter I have ever experienced with a medical professional while the Principal sat by saying nothing in what I interpret as acceptable and condoning behavior which likely speaks to her own character, morals, values and beliefs as I could Never sit back and what such derogatory, demeaning, and oppressive behavior being displayed by someone of his stature. A very clear no value for anything you have to say so speak only when spoken to and when that is not accomodated I will rudely cut you off, demean, disrespect and oppress you back into your place! These kind of professionals should not be allowed to work with anyone, let alone children or minorities! Racism is still very much alive and active as we see more each day. One star is not sufficient enough to describe my experience.

Our school brought Dr. Lustick in to help our child who suffers from anxiety. This was the worst experience! My child felt very intimidated by him. He was very harsh and borderline rude. My child did not feel safe to open up and talk to him. We have never had such a bad experience with a doctor.
