Dr. Michael Scott Magee, MD

Mr. Magee is still learning medicine. But not on me. I need to listen one hour what I had read on WebMD in 10 minutes. In my vocabulary Practicing is a term when you study academically in College/University then you continue to study in to the lab to practice & learn what you will do in reality in your profession. I do not know when he will complete his study. In my assessment he is not a MD. He is a pills dispenser.

Dr Magee reminds me of an old-style personable doctor that actually talks to and listens to his patients. On my first visit, he spent over an hour with me getting all the details of my diabetes and giving me a go-over. He only slightly modified a couple medications to other generics that he said have fewer side effects and instructed me on what I need to do to get my glucose count down. On my next visit 3 months later after seeing the new blood lab results, he decided to put me on once-a-day insulin. This has been a life-saver for me as I haven't felt this good in a decade. My previous doctor was not a specialist and didn't really know what to do with me and basically just gave me the by-the-book treatment. So I'm very glad I went to Dr Magee. He's very detailed oriented. Although he has a tendency not to look you in the eyes consistently when talking with you, you can tell that his mind is 100% focused on what he's saying. Some people may not care for his style, but I have no… issues with it. He knows what he's doing. And I've always found him and his staff to be quite nice to deal with.

I came in and was immediately treated like a child. He never listened to why I was there, had NO knowledge of common medical problems, argued with me about why I was there and essentially walked out. He refused to do any test besides what my primary care provider can do. He is clearly in the business of getting people in his door to me $. The WORST doctor I have ever seen.

Not a good experience at all. First meeting I tell him my symptoms and he says they're all related to my throid. Second visit I tell him the same symptoms and that I'm not feeling any better. He tells me none of them are related to my thyroid. Third visit he tells me that I've felt bad for so long that I've simply forgotten what normal feels like. Won't even talk to me about other possible causes of my symptoms since I wasn't directly referred for anything else. Horrible.

I have done my exam with the referred eye doctor. In my next visit after couple of months, i was surprised to know he haven't received the reports which he was referred.

I was referred to this physician for diabetes care. His office refused to speak with me until they received the referral (which was already available in their network system).The reception returned a call 2 business days later explaining their appointments were booked 30 days out for new patients. I scheduled an appointment and they sent me their new patient questionnaire. Attached were three policies governing missed appointments, surcharges for time-of-service co-pays, and prescription refills (no-fax, no mail order, time of appointment only).I will keep looking rather than meet with the tyranny of this care provider's arrogance.

Overall, Doctor Magee is great. My only "slight" complaint is getting medicine refills can be a bit of a pain. He explained that he's had some issues with a few patients in the past, so now he won't call in medicine refills (or even fax back the form sent to him). You have to get him to write a brand new prescription for a refill and mail in (for mail order pharmacy) yourself.
