Dr. Michael Christopher Mena, MD

Dr. Mena does not follow Hamilton County regulations to wear a mask and social distance. He suggested he doesn’t believe in Covid. He tried to get me to take off my mask, but I’m going to follow CDC guidelines and local health mandates. Furthermore, Dr. Mena blames my American female diet for my condition. I’m not sure what this means, but when I clarified with him that I’m vegetarian and eat exclusively whole grains and not much processed food at all, he backtracked and blamed my water habits (I drink 60+ ounces per day, but I didn’t feel like correcting him at that point). It seemed like he just wanted to blame me for my condition instead of helping me with it.

Submitted a negative review yesterday. Did not take long and it was removed. Go figure

I would recommend Dr Mena, to anyone having surgery, he did an excellent job on my Hernia repair. He has good bedside manners, explains the procedure in terms a layman can understand. As with everyone associated with Memorial Hospital, to quote AllState you are in good hands. Regards, Marilyn

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the doctor. We left. After waiting more than 40 minutes past the appointment time, I inquired to verify we had the right time. THEN, were we notified that we were 'worked in' for the day. I also found out that at least two, maybe three patients were scheduled for the same appointment time. Bad practice. It shows complete lack of consideration for your patients time.

Thorough and professional

Has an extremely rude receptionist who babbles about what she would want if she was in your position and then doesn't answer your questions. Told me I could be seen now, as a last minute referral, and then the room got crowded. After an hour, I asked her about the wait time and she said that she thought I could get in but then the room filled. Don't you have an appointment book?! Speaks in a very belittling manner and rolls her eyes at you. Shouldn't even work there.

Would highly recommend

This is an amazing surgeon. I have had two surgeries with him. I would recommend him to anyone.

My husband had use him 2x before for hemoriod surgery. I had a little suface abess (according to my former nurse practioner) infection under a 5 year old tummy tuck scar. I was referred to another surgeon with bad rep. I made the appt myself and he personally called me to ask again what was going on. He said- "do not eat or drink after 12. It has been my experience that these things are worse than you think and we might have to do this in hospital not office." Yep, he called it site unseen. It was a nasty bad infection that was actually 4 inches wide and 1-1/2 inches deep! Dr. Mena had a great bedside manner and is very intelligent. Would not use anyone else
