Dr. Moustakakis received his undergraduate and medical degrees from The University of Texas, Austin. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Connecticut and served as Chief Resident at Saint Francis. Dr. Moustakakis completed his Nephrology training at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, in 2001. His training includes the care of acute and chronic kidney diseases and hypertension in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Moustakakis also attends to patients with need of dialysis for kidney failure at several dialysis clinics in the Hartford area.
In addition to patient care, Dr. Moustakakis also is involved as an educator of medical trainees. He was honored as the 2003 recipient of the Thomas R. Preston Award for Excellence in Teaching by The University of Connecticut Internal Medicine Residency Program.
