Dr. Michael Muhlbauer, MD

It was honestly so confusing- I felt like I was being punk’d. I went in for a back surgery consult and he walked in the room, said, “What are you here for? Surely not surgery, you’re too fat”. Over the course of the rest of the appointment, he told me “No, you need to look into Gastric Bypass surgery”, when the nurse suggested a waist clincher he yelled across the hall “no, she’s too heavy for the waist clincher”. Many other mentions to how heavy I was and numerous times he told me I was “too fat”. It was honestly just so baffling and confusing. The nurse practitioner also seemed confused but said nothing about it to him. It was insulting and demeaning and I would never recommend someone else put themselves through it.

He did my son's surgery and was excellent, Connor is now in Dartmouth college, so thanks, his brain must be working great, it is the 14th hardest school to get into and he got a scholarship

Born in 1989 and Dr. Muhlbauer put his first VP Shunt in at the number one children’s hospital in Memphis. We still see him on a regular bases. We owe our son’s life to him. We love you Dr. Muhlbauer your the greatest!!!! Be well, The Johnson’s from Manila, AR.

Dr. Muhlbauer built a new neck for me. No problem with it for years. Would recommend him to anyone!!

He’s awful!!!!!!

On my first visit,he sat down and explained what my MRI said,what he couldn't do,and what he would do.He wasn't in any hurry and his bedside manner was super.His office staff was just as helpful..

Used to be a good surgeon, however he is no longer skilled. I found it interesting that he blames the patient if the surgery goes wrong. He also acts impaired.

Dr Muhlbauer took time with me to describe the procedure he wound be using to relieve my pain. I admited that I had fears, and when he saw that he simply changed the subject and we just talked about everything but my need for surgery. Once I got over my fears, my gratitude for Dr Muhlbauer's patience and kindness in sitting and just talking continued to grow. When surgery finally took place the staff at Semmes Murphy were wonderful. It was so nice when Dr Muhlbauer took the time to stop by to check on me in the recovery room. My husband and I cannot say enough good things about his bedside manner and his skill as a surgeon, I would recommend him to anyone who is living with nerve pain.
