Dr. Michael John Novotny, MD

This doctor is questionable at best. I was referred to him after a severe kidney infection. He wouldn’t refer me to a nephrologist and refused to listen to any concerns. He also had no clue what was wrong with me and told me “my testicles hurt when I start to get sick with a cold and I don’t know why.” Um what? That’s not something a doctor says. This guy clearly has mental health issues. I eventually got a referral to nephrology from someone else and SURPRISE! I actually have something really wrong with my kidney that basically was neglected for two years because this guy refused to hear me out on any of my symptoms and do thorough testing or provide a referral. Please avoid.

Avoid this Arrogant unhelpful and very risky Doctor, for your own sakelease

While he is not a warm & fuzzy doctor he is thorough, professional and answers any questions I have had. The only times I've ever gotten frustrated is waiting for a response to a general question but never on urgent questions. Those are answered quickly.

this doctor thinks he can diagnose a patient without even listening to symptoms. Seems to be very arrogant and self important. Extremely insensitive to patients comfort levels while exposed. I would avoid sacramento main kaiser urology dept because this guy is the chief of dept. I doubt that he is capable of managing staff effectively. Direct quotes: 'I do not discuss sexual issues'; 'I do not have time to review your symptoms'; 'we could talk about symptoms and it would not make any difference' Is this guy bi-polar or what?? like I said: AVOID! I hope this saves at least one person from a very troubling office visit. Too many good doctors out there to waste time and stress seeing this one. Good luck!
