Dr. Michael Yang-Hoon Oh, MD

I was in a horrific MVA about 13 years ago. At that time Dr. Oh was a very young neurosurgeon at Allegheny General. My family and others were told I should have not survived the accident. I was in and out of light coma with a broken neck. After being life-flighted to Allegheny he was called in and took over. After a grueling night, he had decided to 'let me go' - he later explained if he had operated (to repair broken neck) my life would be saved but at great risk of paralysis (because of where the neck had broken). If he let me go, do nothing - he presumed I would die peacefully. He was shocked to find me fully awake the next morning, sitting up in bed. Of course I was uncomfortable wearing a huge neck brace - but pain meds took care of the rest. He was like a ray of sunshine when he walked in - explaining he was pleasantly shocked to see me awake. Of course the head trauma left me with a mild seizure condition that my neurologist (he recommended) is overseeing, along with… medicine - but thanks to Dr. Oh making the right decision, along with many prayers by my family and friends and Dr. Oh's belief - I truly believe I was in blessed hands and would highly recommend him to anyone with a brain, neck or spine injury or disease. Also thanks to the trauma dept. at Allegheny, too.

Dr. Oh saved my life. My craniotomy surgery went without a hitch and my follow up and care was truly amazing. I am blessed to be alive and thank God I had this doctor to do emergency surgery.

In 2011, Dr. Oh performed XLIF surgery on my spine. He told me in advance that the surgery wouldn't fix my problems, but it would keep me on my feet. He was right, I'm now 65, still have problems at other levels but am still upright thanks to him. I'm so thankful that I found him.. He is all business, not a warm and fuzzy Doctor, but I wasn't looking for a buddy, just a competent surgeon. Thanks Dr. Oh.

Came in with right foot complaints and was instantly told had compartment syndrome, bursitis and plantar fasciitis, never was I showed the xrays I had taken and then was immediately casted. I felt very rushed.

failed spinal fusion--I don't believe he corrected spinal stenosis. Was quite rude when he found out that the operation failed.

Im amaze by all the good reviews Dr Oh has. His office staff is rude, and seem like they are only there for a paycheck. After a visit, he walked out after saying I needed testing and promptly left. After sitting in the exam room for 30 minutes I decided to get dressed and went to leave, when the . staff said "We wondered where you were" . I thought someone was comming back to give me the Rx and info for the procedure. Later visits were equally horrible. If your involved with his office make sure you follow up at every opportunity, or you will be left hanging. Really good surgeon Horrible beside manners and equally horrible office staff

The dr. spent less than 10 minutes with me and did not go over ANY of the testing I had done for this appointment. What a waste of my time and money.

Took a while to get an appointment but worth it. He recommended less invasive surgery than the other surgeon I had seen and I am doing great.

I ALMOST consented to a surgery in which my back would have been fused at another nearby hospital system. After several years of pain and one previous surgery, I went to Dr. Oh for his opinion and THANK GOD I did!!! He is not quick to jump at surgery - he is very conservative and cautious. He was able to locate the TRUE source of my pain and fused a joint rather than vertebrae, which was much less intrusive. He literally gave me back my life. I have been pain free with the exception of general healing process discomfort for nearly 6 months. He is an outstanding doctor and surgeon; he has followed up and provided the best possible care. I highly recommend him!!

I came in I terrible pain and Dr. O.H. did not ever care he acted like i was faking it. Even though i was sweating terribly and my blood pressure was 150 over 100. I could barely move and he could have cared less. He just ordered MRI's and then shoved me out of the door. On of the most careless doctor i have ever been seen by.
