I'm happy to give Dr. Putt a five-star rating. He invests in new, state-of-the-art equipment; hires great hygienists; and never pushes patients to get treatments that can wait a while. I

I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this dental practitioner. Firstly, his hours of operation are extremely limited and terribly inconvenient. It is hard to get an appointment. Secondly, he basically refuses to talk directly to the parents of children, allowing all dental care information to be delivered via the hygienist and staff. This is not a professional way to do business and certainly not the norm. He has the staff relay to parents what needs to be done as far as fillings and extended dental treatments beyond routine checkups and cleanings. I believe most parents want to know why a chid needs a filling or an extraction, etc. The staff is not equipped to answer questions regarding medical dental procedures and he will not come out after the checkup to explain, nor does he even call parents back at request. We were forced to take our family's dental care to another more attentive and committed practitioner. At my older child's last visit, he went in for a routine cleaning… and check up. I took the morning off of work, and he from school. After the hygienist cleaned his teeth, I was told my son was "all set, but needed two fillings." I questioned where the dentist was as I had several questions for him about my son's dental issues and questions about the necessity of the fillings, etc. The hygienist told me he was on vacation. I was surprised that they never mentioned this when I booked the appointment. they told me if Iw anted the dental exam, I'd have to re-book a second appointment. She told me that she (not a dentist!) did the dentist's exam instead. Very unprofessional. There was another patient in the waiting room who was equally stunned (and very vocal about it) that they would actually stay open with no dentist to examine the patients ! I lodged my complaint and guess what? The dentist never called me back. Typical of this practice. If we are going to take time away from work and take our kids out of school--we expect to have a dental exam at the dentist. This isn't too much to ask. In my opinion, prospective patients should get their dental care elsewhere.
