Dr. Michael Brian Rivers, MD

Dr. Rivers has performed two eye surgeries for me, and both were quite successful. He is a knowledgeable and personable Dr. for whom I give the highest recommendation.

Saw Dr. Rivers on a Monday for a dark spot in my left eye. He said it was a young retinal detachment, and it could be operated on that day as a medical emergency, or the next day. I left the decision in his hands; I only said I didn't want to do anything that would risk my vision. The operation was set up for the next day, but by the time I was operated on the detachment had spread to my macula. After the operation I was left with several retinal folds, and very distorted vision. Over time the folds resolved, but I am left with severe metamorphopsia and distortions in that eye, particularly in the central area. It is impossible to read or use that eye for much of anything, and it is very upsetting to live with it.
