Dr. Michael Leonard Scharf, MD

I was diagnosed with pulmonary Hypertension. I had no doubt it was terminal within a few months. Dr Scharf saved my life. I am ever grateful.

First appointment he was courteous,gracious, seemed to know what he was talking about, even if I didn't agree with diagnosis. Second visit after lab results didn't support his diagnosis, was arrogant and dismissed me from his care. Not what I expected from someone with his expertise. I was greatly disappointed with the care of received, especially since he didn't want to go any further with treating me and trying to find out what was causing my respiratory issues.

I have never encountered such a callous cold physician. My mother is in the ICU and we have been repeatedly amazed by the warmth and caring nature of the vast majority of nurses physicians and respiratory therapists we encountered... Until we met Dr Scharf. He was only covering on a weekend thank god but he clearly did not want to get involved, answer any questions, staying several times, "I don't know I just met her." I informed him that I am a physician and that I am well aware if the concept of handing off a patient. I was not asking him to tell me how long she'd live or go home, simply how she was doing that day. Standing by the bedside of a critically ill loved one is difficult enough. I cannot imagine how most families who are lay people not in medicine would ever be able to receive any meaningful care from this man. I'm sure he's probably smart but the most horrendous bedside manner I have encountered from a patient's perspective or even in my 14 years professionally.
