Michael J. Somers, MD

Dr. Michael J.G. Somers, MD, is Director of Clinical Services for the Division of Nephrology and Medical Director of the Renal Dialysis Unit at Boston Children’s Hospital, as well as an associate professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric nephrology, he specializes in chronic kidney disease, dialysis, pediatric kidney transplantation, glomerular disease, hypertension, and end-stage renal disease in children and adolescents. Dr. Somers earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency at the Mayo Clinic, followed by fellowship training in pediatric nephrology at Boston Children’s Hospital. Widely respected for his leadership in pediatric renal care, quality improvement, and dialysis medicine, he has contributed extensively to national initiatives focused on improving outcomes for children with kidney disease and is known for his compassionate, …multidisciplinary, family-centered approach to caring for medically complex patients.
