Dr. Michael D Stifelman, MD

I underwent surgery, which was successful, but never saw the Dr.Stifelman again. He never spoke with my family after surgery nor did I ever see him in the office. He never personally answered my post-op questions. All post-op care was delegated to his PA who is admittedly excellent when she is available. He also did not send a report to my referring physician.He is apparently too busy or it is below him. I regret having to write this but this is my impression.

Dr. Stifelman saved my mother’s life. He led a team of surgeons in a 7+ hour incredibly complicated operation that, when described to me seemed like a Hail Mary attempt to prolong her life. She is now recovering nicely, with what I hope is years to live. My every interaction with Dr. Stifelman was wonderful. He was kind, caring, compassionate, reassuring (against all odds I thought), and obviously a surgeon with extraordinary skill. I am a surgeon myself, and know many hundreds of doctors both personally and professionally. And I honestly feel that he is one of the two or three most impressive physicians that I have ever met. Truly extraordinary, and I feel so lucky we were able to find him and have him help us with this awful disease.

I came to Dr. Stifelman when I found out I had cancer. He explained everything to me so I could understand it, his professionalism is unsurpassed and his staff is fantastic. I would recommend him to anyone.

When I met with Dr. Stifelman I had no idea what to expect. This was my first surgery ever at 51 years old and he was very thorough in explaining what he saw on my kidney, what his plan of action was, and what the expected result was going to be. His confidence put my anxiety at bay and allowed me have a positive attitude. The office staff was very helpful, and the HUMC Hospital was one of the most modern, clean, professional facility I had ever seen before. As a NY first responder I have been to many hospitals that are considered top notch, but they are no where near the level that HUMC is.

I was recommended by another hospital to Dr. Stifelman because of the severity of my case. Dr. Stifelman explained the procedure in a way that was easy to understand without having to pull out a medical journal. He is compassionate, and made me feel very secure in the process and procedure.

2 Kidney Surgery recently completed with Dr Stifelman who is by far the Best In Class for Kidney Surgery !

When i was told of a tumor on my Right kidney at only the age of 34 years old and being a young father of two little ones the news wasn't taken so well. After doing Massive research Visiting Doctor after Doctor when some told me my entire Right Kidney would have to be removed in order to remove the tumor. I was lucky enough to meet and get an appointment with Dr. Michael Stifelman. When i first meet with him i knew he was the one from that first meeting after he took the time to explain every detail with me which others did not and he was very Confident he would save my kidney and remove the mass and with his track record and his confidence i Choose him. After Deciding to use Dr Stifelman my surgery was booked within two weeks later. Dr Stifelman performed a partial nephrectomy robotic surgery on me and to this day it was two weeks ago i had the Surgery and the tumor was Completely removed which after testing was Diagnosed Cancer and He did in fact save my Right kidney which i have… 3/4 of the kidney which is good enough to just live on that only if you had too. I feel 100 % already as they did say it can take up to 6 weeks which im able to go back to my normal life style and my incisions are very minor on my chest they will not be noticable going forward. I truly think i Feel so good only two weeks later is because Dr Michael Stifelman has Golden hands and he performed such a perfect clean operation on me and his team were all Wonderful and im completely Cancer or Tumor Free now thanks to him and his team and i can put that worry off and get back to enjoying life. If you find yourself in the same Situation Don't panic go Visit Dr Michael Stifelman you will be in great hands.

Dr. Stifelman and his team are the best examples of what medical profession should be, could be and needs to be. From his office staff, to his assistants, his residents, all the nurses and everyone involved in this amazingly efficient operation everyone was truly committed to excellence and truly part of a great team. I did have a bit of a wait during my first visit but everyone was extremely polite, respectful, apologetic and accommodating. I personally don't understand how people will wait for concert tickets, newly released toys, Harry Potter books, wait to be seated in restaurants but will find it unacceptable to wait to see someone who can literally save their life. This is an amazing doctor. His staff is the best. Highly recommend!

Dr. Stifelman is the best oncologist we have ever encountered. Dr. Stifelman has masterfully performed two robotic surgeries on my dad. Dr. Stifelman saved my dad's life. His knowledge, bed side manner, level of care and expertise are exceptional. Thank you, Dr. Stifelman!

I came to see Dr. Stifleman because of a tumor on my right kidney. He was confident he could remove the tumor and save half my kidney with robotic surgery. I put all my faith in him and I’m so happy I did. He successfully removed the tumor, and saved half my kidney with very little recovery time. After three days I felt good and after a week I was feeling great. I gave it the suggested 2 week down time and resumed my regular life on day 15. Kathy Swan
