PLEASE READ. This may save you hundreds and a lot of stress. I have had multiple gynecologic procedures this year including two hemorrhoid and fissure surgeries, two colonoscopies, two endoscopies, and a lung biopsy. Every one of them was fully covered under my insurance as I am Active Duty. I paid nothing for anesthesia each time. This visit was very different and concerning. My journey to this office was not straightforward. I first saw my gynecologist on base but because they do not perform hysterectomies I was referred out. The first civilian provider I was sent to informed me they were retiring and no longer performing surgeries. From there I was referred here. At my first appointment we discussed a hysterectomy in detail. I was told I needed an endometrial biopsy and hysteroscopy first to rule out cancer. At the next appointment I underwent that procedure. Results confirmed endometrial polyps which meant another procedure had to be scheduled before moving forward with the… hysterectomy. Instead of consolidating these steps everything was spread out across multiple visits. When it came time to schedule the polyp removal I was given a consent form from the anesthesia group they use. It stated they are not in network with any insurance and required me to agree to pay more than five hundred dollars out of pocket if insurance did not cover at least fifteen hundred toward anesthesia. This is an in office procedure that typically lasts ten to twenty minutes and requires minimal anesthesia yet I was being forced to accept unnecessary financial risk. I refused to sign and because of that the procedure was not performed. When I asked to have the procedure scheduled in a hospital setting where my insurance would cover anesthesia through in network providers the doctor told me directly he would not do the procedure in a hospital setting. He was visibly irritated and I was further advised he would not move forward with the surgery at all unless I signed the consent and agreed to pay the fee upfront. My insurance covers all allowable expenses for Active Duty whether network or not as long as the provider is authorized. The issue is that this anesthesia group is not in network with any insurance which leaves patients exposed to bills that should not exist. He raised his voice at me and said he has many Active Duty patients who also pay out of pocket. The reason they are paying is because they are being forced to sign this same consent not because insurance does not cover anesthesia. No insurance pays fifteen hundred dollars for anesthesia on a twenty minute procedure which is how this policy ensures patients end up paying. Communication and professionalism matter and this is where my experience broke down completely. When I asked questions about coverage and billing I was not given clear or accurate answers. Instead I was met with irritation dismissal and refusal to offer alternatives. I have seen many different specialists this year and had multiple procedures requiring anesthesia and I never once paid anything. The difference here is not my insurance coverage but the financial practices of this office. This is not normal practice. The office is clearly money driven. They also charge twenty five dollars for medical documentation and fifty dollars to reschedule with two days notice when most offices only require twenty four hours. Based on other reviews I have since read this type of dismissive response to patient concerns and financial surprises seems to be a pattern. Please do your research before agreeing to any procedures here. Do not let them convince you this is standard practice because it is not. Patients deserve transparency and providers who do not attempt to shift costs onto patients that are already fully covered by insurance.

Not sure what these review are all about, but I had an amazing experience! I came across Dr Michael Stine a few months ago, as I was looking for a doctor that was specialized in fibroid treatments. I could not have been happier with this discovery and with choosing him as my doctor of choice. Not only did he educate me about this topic, but he was always able to answer all of my questions (and I had a list on my phone ready to go every time I showed up, trust me). My case was not the easiest as I had 6 fibroids, one of which was 18cm, and he was still able to get it out through a LAPORASCOPIC myomectomy which I am SOOO thankful for. He had informed me that due to the location and size of my fibroid, it was a 50/50 chance whether he was going to be able to remove it with a laporascopy or open myomectomy. Thanks to his skills and perseverence, my laporascopic myomectomy was a success, and he was able to preserve my uterus. I highly recommend him as your surgeon of choice, if you relate… to my story. You will be in good hands! Best of luck oh, and his nurse and staff are just as amazing!

If you would like to feel like you don’t know anything , like any other dr you’ve seen to include a surgeon is dumb compared to him then go ahead and go here . Very condescending. Had just moved from va where I’ve seen the same Dr for 15 years . Apparently she’s been doing things all wrong . ?? felt very uncomfortable therefore couldn’t even discuss any of my concerns nor ask for any other medications normally prescribed to me by my gynecologist because HE “ isn’t in the business of handing out pills “ ummm so WHO gives you pills for woman related things then?

Was very rough at my appointment, talked very fast and seemed busy/distracted, seemed offended when I asked certain questions, and cracked a joke about a serious question I had. I asked if he could tell which position my child was in and he was VERY rough, when other doctors have never done what he did. He did however warn me that, "you're not going to like this" before he pushed his hand down into my lower abdomen to feel my son's head. Overall, I am very displeased with my visit with him and am praying he does not deliver my child.
