Came to office 15 min prior to apt without paperwork after waiting 3 months to be seen. Was told that because the paperwork was not already filled out, i would have to reschedule. I had filled out the paperwork in plenty of time in the office prior to my appointment and was told to leave. Following up with IN Med Assoc and attorney general’s office to file grievance. No patient should ever be treated in this manner by staff or doctor.

I've been a patient of Dr.Stowell's for years. That being said...wow have things change since he partnered with IU Health! Their office staff is incredibly RUDE!! I scheduled an appointment only to be called two weeks later & told that they aren't taking "new patients"? Well..that's just perfect but I'm not a new patient! I've been an insured/paying patient for 15 years! Apparently, not having a yearly pap due to the fact that I've had a hysterectomy disqualifies me as a "current" patient. Thank you for being so rude IU Health! If this is how they treat their patients, they did me a favor! I'll be moving my records over to a private practice. Unfortunately this isn't my first bad experience with IU Health providers. Patients deserve compassionate care!

We all hate to get pelvic exams. Lets be honest. I may not shave for a month, but for my Gynocologist I try to look well groomed. No amount of primping helps once I get to my appointment and on that table, I'm still nervous and uncomfortable. Until now. Dr. Stowell is incredible. His office is immaculate. His staff is welcoming. When he walks into a room you forget that you are nearly naked in front of a stranger. He is friendly, knowledgable, warm, considerate, respectful and professional. In more than a decade of seeing gynocologists and obstetricians, I have never met another Doctor with half the skill. His bedside manner is impeccable. I cannot overstate this. I walked out of our last appointment with a smile. Let me back up. A few months ago I went to Dr. Stowell for the Essure procedure. He was wonderful and I was very happy with the job he and his staff did. He even called and followed up later in the day to check on me. I was a little out of it and in some pain, so the whole… experience didn't sink in. I may have blocked it out, like childbirth. It all came back to last week when I went to the hospital for the X-ray/ dye test to confirm the Essure worked. There I was; nervous, uncomfortable and anxious and nude (in a hospital gown counts as naked to me). He walked into the room and made me smile and forget where I was. He talked me through the procedure and was informative without being condescending. Dr. Stowell is a rarity. I wish I could see him as my Primary Care Doctor. If you want to stop dreading Pap smears- go see Dr. Stowell!

I am a nurse at Bloomington Hospital. Dr Stowell laughed at me when I asked him a question regarding my care. He failed to diagnose my critical anemia which lead to my premature delivery.
