Dr. Michael William Tanner, MD

I saw Mr. Tanner as part of my network of doctors, referred by a PCP. I did not check any future, and should have. He was to fuse two bones together in my foot, and add a bolt to stabilize the fusion. After the surgery, a cast was applied for the normal amount of time, and then a medical boot was given, to finish the healing. I saw Dr. Tanner on scheduled appointments, with normal exrays to monitor progress. As the normal time for healing approached, I still had a lot of pain, and could not walk with stability and without pain without the medical boot for support. All during the process and every exray taken he confirmed it was fusing, but never did. After complaining a lot, he sent me for a CT scan, which showed it never fused. When he explain the surgery process, he was to use bond shavings from my ankle as part of joint fusion surgery. When we viewed the xrays, having read exrays a work as part of my qualifications, I ask why we couldn't see the bone material that he was suppose to… have added to the joint to assist the fusion, and he became arrogant and turned off the exray light and pull the exrays from the reader. He began to complain about me being a smoker, and when I latter had to obtain a written copy of the visit for SSD, he had layed the whole blame for the failed surgery on me. I had a back conditioned also that needed surgery, and was told to get my foot fixed first. This left me with an unfused painful foot, that I couldn't walk on without the support boot, and unable to work at weld job. I would not recommend this surgeon to anyone. If he messes up, its all your fault and he will immediately go into a new mold of malpractice avoidance. I would not go to him if I were you.

I'm 55 and Dr Tanner is my all time favorite doctor. He and his staff took great care of me before and after my surgery. I recommend him to everyone. Thank-you Dr Tanner from my heart!

I cannot express enough how incompetent this doctor is to the needs of his patients. Run, run as fast as you can. He refuses to admit that he uses parts that are being recalled for patients that are having problems with their Zimmer Duron cups for hip replacements. There is no room in the medical field for the doctors that allow greed over the welfare of their patients. If your going to have a hip replacement from this doctor, please check into the product before he has performed the surgery. If he hasn't performed the surgery yet, I would recommend going anywhere else other than this doctor.

I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. When returning from a prior surgery in regards to a recall on a Zimmerman hip replacement part, he refused to even knowledge that I had a problem.do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for a doctor that got into this profession to help people.

I worked in the healthcare field many years, and am familiar with many physicians and their offices. Dr. Tanner was very caring, and most willing to answer my many questions. He spend as much time as I needed with me. I would highly recommend him.

Kind of dry in his demeanor but seems to be competent and is professional

As far as I'm concerned he is a horrible doctor. I don't think all the docs in this office are bad because I have been seen by two of them. But if someone told me they were going to see Dr. M. Tanner I would tell them to run as fast as they can the other direction.
