Dr. Michael Andrew Thompson, MD

Surgery is never something we look forward to. I had a cyst on the middle finger of my right hand that was continuing to grow. I went to Dr. Thompson as he was listed as a "hand specialist" in my insurance provider list. I found when I got to the doctor's office there are 2 doctor Thompsons. The doctor that did my surgery was Dr. M. A. Thompson. It is good to note this as one might put their review on the wrong doctor. Dr. Thompson was clear, complete, and concise in his evaluation and how the surgery would be performed. He was able to tell me that the kind of cyst I had could recur. He got everything he could see and reach. The scar is extremely minimal and so far (a year later) the cyst has not grown back. He and his team were excellent. I have never had such an excellent surgical experience in my life. I thought another area hospital was excellent, but the Orthopedic hospital was even better. If I should have another occasion to need a doctor of his expertise I would return to him… and I certainly would recommend him to anyone who could use his services. Again, when reading reviews, it could be the other Dr Thompson someone is writing about.

I went to see Dr. Thompson regarding what I was told was an elbow injury by another orthopedist. After waiting about 10 minutes in the waiting room, I was taken to the exam room, and evaluated by Dr. Thompson's Physician Assistant. She was very thorough and took time to ask questions, address concerns, and examine my injuries. Dr. Thompson came in shortly thereafter and did the same, explaining to me his assessment after evaluating my range of movement, listened to my concerns, and answered my questions. He did a great job explaining his plans for treatment in a clear, concise manner. While I'm still being treated, I am pleased with the team approach to treatment, and feel like this doctor is very knowledgeable in the best way to address my injuries. It turned out that my problem is not in my elbow, but in my shoulder, which came as a complete surprise! The MRI proved Dr. Thompson's evaluation correct. I'm very pleased with my treatment, thus far.

This guy is one of the most arrogant, unconcerned doctors I have ever met. I went to see him for a wrist injury. After I was taken back to his office by the nurse, I sat there for another forty-seven minutes before he showed up. When he did come in, he acted as though he was doing me a big favor to see me, never once apologizing for taking so long. He spent very little time with me, acting all the while as though my situation was a bother and a bore to him because it wasn't going to require surgery. There are many other hand and wrist specialists out there. Do yourself a big favor and avoid this arrogant, next-to-no-bedside-manner of a doc. You (and I) definitely deserve better.

The longer i was a patient there the less my pain and complications from surgery mattered. Even though complications kept me from returning to work and left me in horrible pain in between surgeries i was pretty much just left to suck it up and endure a lot of pain, just because they cannot pin point the source of the problem does not mean someone should have to endure a lower quality of life while they seek the answer. At the beginning i could not say one bad thing, took alot of time with me, answered questions, felt very comfortable, but now that it has been so long i cannot say i feel the same. Great surgeon and very smart my case was just kind a freak of nature case, so everyday cases would be great to see him for.
