Dr. Michael Floyd Thompson, MD

I was bleeding out when Dr. Thompson was called as he was leaving the hospital. He called the lab to determine if staff was still there to assist, and stayed late to scope me and identify my problem. I will forever deeply appreciate his willingness to do whatever was necessary to help in my stabilization. He subsequently followed me for the duration of my stay. I have been back to Dr. Thompson several times since my initial contact and have spoken with his nurse, who I found to be consistently considerate, accommodating, and professional. Dr. Thompson has earned my full confidence.

I would not recommend Dr. Thompson to anyone. He was very condescending and inaccurate with his diagnosis.

I would absolutely NOT recommend this Dr. to anyone. He is extremely insensitive to the patient's condition and needs and is only thinking about himself. Within a minute of walking into his office, he berated myself and my mother by stating that he essentially was being 'dumped' on from another Dr's referral. Without considering the verbal abusive injury that this would cause, he says 'I know your track record' inferring that I have abused the hospital system. I have been through 4 abdominal surgeries stemming from an extremely rare condition called SMA...and from those surgeries, I've suffered from extreme pain and have made numerous visits to the ER at SMMC. It was clear that he didn't want me as a patient.

Having had biopsies every 2 years, until recently having the need for less time in between, I've found Dr. Thompson very patient center, even calling himself after procedures to check on progress. He is very communicative in explaining details, prognosis, and future needs. I highly recommend.

Dr. Thompson is okay; although he could sharpen up his diagnostic skills.His office staff (when you check in) are very rude and impatient and act as though you are interrupting their day.
