Dr. Michelle Baer, MD

My review is somewhat overdue, but I'm posting it here because it's still relevant and hopefully helps someone else to not choose to consult doctors in this practice. Initially was happy with my consultations with Dr Michelle Baer (she's friendly and approachable), but then I was treated with indifference when I had recurring problems with abnormal bleeding. Yes, she did order the relevant tests to rule out multiple causes. But soon afterwards, my repeated attempts to her failed, and one of their nurses very helpfully told me over the phone that the dysfunctional uterine bleeding should stop because, "After all, how long can you bleed, right?" In another instance because Dr Baer was out of town, another of the physicians in her practice (I don't want to name her here as well; this is not a witch hunt) very indifferently suggested an IUD, and nobody in the practice bothered to give me any idea of what to do in terms of prepping for an IUD as well as what to expect afterwards. At that… point, I understood that I was not really valued as a patient in their practice, refused to get the IUD inserted, said goodbye to them with a smile, and found a really good gynecologist in another hospital group.

I recently moved to Chicago and was due for my yearly check-up so I went online to seek a new doctor. Based on her good ratings I decided to schedule it with Dr. Baer. Unfortunately during my visit I felt she wasn't as interested in talking about some of my questions relating health concerns as my previous OBGYNs were. I didn't feel her being invested in my well-being and felt as if I was just a number to fulfill her daily quota. I regret to say that despite her high ratings (maybe from patients who have been with her for years) she wasn't able to earn my trust with the most important thing in life, my health.

Dr Baer is the most down to earth and friendly dr I have ever had. I don't feel weird discussing anything with her and she is a genuine person with a real personality, not the cold and mechanical type at all. I live closeby but if I ever move I will make the trip to continue seeing her.

This Dr. was awesome for my teenage daughters first ob/gyne visit, she was very personable and attentive.
