Dr. Michelle Marie Cloutier, MD

Dr. Cloutier designed the Easy Breathing program to encourage comprehensive asthma management by pediatric providers, patients, and parents with the goals of improving the health status of children with asthma and reducing medical care expenditures. Dr. Cloutier is currently the Principal Investigator on the following grants:
-MCO Use of a Pediatric Asthma Management Program - Funded by the Agency for Health Care Quality and Research The major goals of this project are to determine whether the Easy Breathing program can be effectively managed through a managed care organization (MCO) in a private practice setting.
-Reducing Asthma Morbidity in Urban Children - Funded by the Aetna Foundation The goal of this project is to reduce asthma morbidity in participating children who receive care for asthma at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center's Emergency Department, 23-Hour Observation Unit, or Inpatient Units.
-Easy Breathing Community Initiative - Funded by the Department of …Public Health The goal of this project is to implement Easy Breathing, a proven effective pediatric asthma management program, in five Connecticut communities.
-The Provider and Organization in Asthma Guidelines - Funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood This study will investigate the complex interactions between provider personal attributes and the organization and the effect of targeted interventions on provider performance to implement an asthma disease management program.
-Effectiveness of an Allergen Reduction Intervention in Child Care Centers - Funded by the Environmental Protection Agency This project will examine indoor air quality in an important but poorly investigated area, namely the childcare center. This project will determine whether allergen reduction strategies can be successfully implemented in the childcare environment.
