Dr. Michelle Krause Higginson, MD

Dr.Higginson is a good dermatologist but not great.She told me I had roscea.I did not have it.She is thorough for an exam.Not as good a bedside manner as my other long term doctors.

Dr Higginson is a super and very helpful dermatologist.

I was a patient for over 10 years and she was always very cold but very willing to try new medications but never one that solved the problem. I hope as desperate for my skin to clear up and I trusted her. She kept me on antibiotics for over 10 years which resulted in many health problems. Additionally, after a routine body check, she missed an area of concern but I remembered to point it out before I left so she sent it out for a biopsy. Good thing I did because it was pre-melanoma which had to be cut out by a plastic surgeon. Dr. Higginson has no respect for any other medical field if they didn’t go to medical school. For example, she actually was visibly and verbally disgusted when I mentioned during my last appointment with her that I had gone to a Naturopath (where I happen to work by the way) to have blood work done to determine which foods my body tolerates and which foods don’t. With disgust she sat down next to me and said “let me educate you on something, those people didn’t… go to medical school and they don’t know what they’re talking about”. Really? Well, after 10 years of being on medication both orally and topically, after cutting out the foods that that “uneducated” Naturopath told me about, my skin cleared up and now, for the first time in years I get compliments on my skin.In the meantime it’ll probably be at least another year if not more before my body is clear of the Candida in my blood as a result of the antibiotics. My daughter was also a patient of hers as well and she just left for a new dermatologist as well. In my opinion, Dr. Higginson is extremely rigid and difficult to deal with not to mention unaccommodating. Who wants to deal with this type of person when there are plenty of other fantastic dermatologists out there. I will say Dr. Grey in the same practice is the best doctor in that practice, she’s very nice and not a cold hearted woman like Dr. Higginson. It’s great if you like her but my opinion is she’s horrible.

Have been seeing Higginson for several office visits. Was there for an office appointment and I asked her to look at what appeared to be a small bump on my skin near my neck area. She looked at it with a glance and stated it was nothing to worry about. Well it continued to grow. When I was at my family Doctor I was advised to go to another Dermatology office. So I did. It turned out to be "MERKEL CELL CANCER" which is a serious condition and was told the survival rate was extremely short. Since then I had surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital and spent 11 hours in surgery at which time they found the cancer in two other locations. I would say to anyone that is a patient at that office can be at risk the way I was not treated.

I have been treated by Dr. Higginson for the past12 years. I have found her to be an excellent doctor.

Dr. Higginson is thorough, efficient, patient and quite informative. She is conservative in her diagnosis and treatment. I would definitely recommend her to both family and acquaintances.

Went to her with a spot found on my scalp. She was very helpful and nice. Ended up having to have that spot and two others by my nose removed due to basal cell. Explain everything very nicely.

I was turned away by the staff for my appointment (that I badly needed) because they said the Saybrook Dermatology group she is a member of doesn't take medicare and/or United Healthcare insurance and we switched to that plan because it was our only option this year (which pays out of network doctors) this year after many years of being their patients! The staff was very nasty about it as well!

The staff is very attentive .and they stay on top of everything .they call u at home to make sure everything is in place if they refer you to someone else . It's nice to have doctors who have a friendly.bedside manner.

i waited 45 minutes to see the doctor and they forgot to submit my paperwork. Dr. Michelle M. Hgginson was condescending and I felt like i wasn't being heard. stay away from Saybrook Dermatology LLC.
