Dr. Miguel Roque

This is a long overdue review - unfortunately, because I didn't have time to write about it before. I am writing it because firstly,  I would like to share the poor experience I had while having a root canal treatment done by this utterly incompetent but at the same time arrogant and highly thinking of himself endodontist Miguel Roque - Harvard School of Dental Medicine graduate - I know it because this is what he was constantly talking about during the procedure. Secondly, I would like to warn his potential patients.So in a nutshell, I had a root canal procedure done at the Greater Boston Dental Center in Watertown by him. (He doesn't work there anymore). First, the procedure took him about 20 minutes (which was surprising because I had this procedure done before on a different tooth and by a different endodontist and it took definitely longer. In general, a root canal procedure typically takes 30–90 minutes, but the time can vary depending on several factors).  Second, he had… problems right from the start - he could not properly put the dental rubber dam & dental clamp around the tooth - something happened, (the clamp snapped or something to that effect) and he had to put the new one - that was very painful even though this area was numbed.  Thirdly, as a result of the above - my gums around a tooth very likely became damaged and as a result inflamed after this root canal procedure.  Fourthly, I kept informing him about the issue (the pain I had). He "double-checked" it at his practice (Centre Endodontics in Newton Centre, Beacon Street)  and stated all was done perfectly. Lastly, fast forward - because of the permanent pain that was not going away and not being able to use the right part of my jaw while eating due to pain, I had to have this tooth and the adjacent tooth extracted.  So, my conclusion and recommendation are: if anybody wants to have their teeth treated properly and not extracted after his carelessly done job - STEER CLEAR OF HIM and choose a different endodontist!
