Dr. Miles Warren Whitaker, MD

Dr Whitaker & his staff are professional, competent, efficient and were patient in answering my questions & concerns. I know people whose previous eye surgeries w/other Drs. Dr Whitaker has repaired. He is knowledgeable and caring.

My cataract surgeries went quickly & smoothly. I didn't feel like just a number but rather everyone was very efficient & caring. The doctor made this a pleasant experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Whitaker.

Medicare covered my annual eye examination but when I asked for a prescription to get my required eye glasses Dr. Whitaker would not provide one without a $40 payment. That is a very unethical business practice.

Very few doctors would inconvenience themselves as he did just to do my surgery--especially on a day when he already had a full day of surgery, but Dr. Whitaker did. He truly went beyond my expectations. So many doctors make you feel as though you are a cog in a machine, but he and his staff really do care about you as a person.

There is no follow up from this Dr. after a visit. He performs expensive - not necessary testing, and then provides no test results to the patient even after numerous and in person phone calls. Dr. Whitaker has withheld my eye glass prescription for almost a year and has required me to go to a Neurologist his office referred and has never called to set an appt. up with me. I was told my prescription would be mailed, but when the staff was questioned about this they claimed that I didn't pay the 40 dollars up front for this prescription - yet none of them told me I needed to do this (I would have gladly paid for this). They always told me that the prescription would be mailed out. Instead of trying to assist me - the office manager, LEANNE argues because she is one of the individuals who failed to tell me about the fee and also told me the prescription would be mailed out. I'm will be filing a complaint with the AMA as I believe that this practice is forcing unnecessary expensive… testing on patients and billing ins. co. for this as well as patients. In my case, Dr. Whitaker cannot cure or 'fix' my issue so there is no need for expensive testing. I've been diagnosed for several years now - I just need a glass prescription, but that doesn't pay his bills I'm sure. Also, he is outdated on his knowledge of my 'issue'. He didn't care enough to actually listen to what I know (I've had this 'issue' for probably 35 yrs) and instead dismissed me as if I'm ignorant. When he said my weight was causing the issue, I knew he was out of date.

Dr. Whitaker performed cataract surgery on my left eye several years ago. I was well taken care of and everything went fine. I now have a cataract on my right eye and will definitely go back to him. He and the staff were great...
