Dr. Mindy Esther Weiss, MD

Mindy Weiss has been my internist for 25 years. A true partner in care who has alway been honest, supportive, and an incredible diagnostician. I don’t know where I’d be without her. Her staff has always treated me with respect.

Most caring attentive smart Doctor ..... feel very blessed to have her in my life !

Doctor was thorough and nice but good luck getting any sort of results back. Tests done and had to call tens of times to get my results back. What's the point of taking tests if you don't get results? And good luck getting your records. Still trying to get my medical records. Not worth the hassle.

Dr. Mindy Weiss is phenomenal. I saw her for a few years while I lived in Manhattan. She is thorough, caring, and listens to her patients. However, her office staff is a nightmare. They are rigid and unnecessarily demanding and lack basic humanity. Two examples come to mind. I had seen Dr. Weiss on a Tuesday. She ran labs and ultimately uncovered a thyroid condition that needed to be treated ASAP. I called in dire straights the next day to follow up. Her office staff refused to take the message unless I gave them tons of details. I kept saying "she saw me yesterday, she knows everything that is going on, please have her call me." After pushing back on their demands for 10 minutes, they said ok. An hour later, I got a call that they didn't send the message because they need more info. I felt like utter crud and didn't have the energy, so I gave them ALL of the info. Dr. Weiss called me back and all they put in the message was "please call patient". Then, I was in the office… for a follow up. They were running a few hours behind schedule. I was nursing at the time and desperately needed to pump. I asked if there was a space I could use. The office staff told me I could use the bathroom, but that they wouldn't save my appointment if I wasn't in the waiting room when it was my turn. They kept telling me I was next for hours. By the time I saw Dr. Weiss I was painfully engorged and leaking. I mentioned this to Dr. Weiss who said "if they had asked me, you could have had my office or any other empty room". It seems that these office staffers think they are way more important than they are. If we hadn't moved, I may have tried to find another doctor, because as much as I love Dr. Weiss, the office staff ruined it all.

I've been going to Plaza East Medicine for some years and had visited Mary Stein for my annuals, and had been quite happy with her. She is now moved and practicing at a different location, and I was scheduled with Dr. Mindy Weiss. She conducted my annual as I'd expect, seemed pretty routine. After that, she told me to go downstairs to the pharmacy and bring back a standard vaccine that her office would administer along with the flu shot. She said it was for my convenience that she would take care of these other things along with my annual. The office also told me that all of this should be covered under my insurance. Then it turns out that the vaccine cost me $85 and was not covered under my insurance as the pharmacy she directed me to was out-of-network. And on top of it, she processed my visit as an office visit as opposed to my regular annual. Thinking back, I wish I would have told her "no", as I could have easily gotten the flu and vaccine shot done for free at a pharmacy… in-network. I also don't know why she pushed me to get it done immediately at her office. As a doctor, I took her advice to heart and just did it. Later when I called back and spoke with the office manager Evette, she told me that they probably did this for my convenience. This is not appropriate, as they really should just lay out the facts for me and let me decide what's convenient for me. Evette responded by telling me that it's "not a problem" if I find myself another doctor's office to do my annuals. I honestly am quite disappointed with my experience. I will find a different doctor for next year.

In an emergency she was disinterested, difficult to contact and completely uncaring. A disgrace to the profession.

It is so re-assuring to be in the care of Dr. Weiss. She is knowledgeable, compassionate and just a GREAT doctor.

I think that Dr Weiss is a very good doctor, she listens and explains things. Why I'm giving her a three star review is because she has staffing probems. The appointments are overbooked. I was told I needed to change an appointment just a few days before it was scheduled. Then when I got there I had to wait exactly one hour, and then I just got up and left. No one came to tell me the problem (I suspect overbooking again) no one told me to make another appointment and no one cared that I left. I would like to go back to Dr Mindy Weiss but am considering other options. Too bad!

Unfortunately the days of your old time family doctors who really care about their patients are few and far between. I was seen at this office many years ago. If I had a very important question, I always felt that Dr. Weiss would try her best to answer it or reach me as soon as she had a moment to do so. Her staff is attentive and very personable and you can feel comfortable very quickly. Others whom I know that use Dr. Weiss all have the same great things to say.

Caring, compassionate, thorough. Knowledgeable far beyond most internists. New facility is inconveniently located.
