Dr. Mira Hellmann, MD

Please do not go to this doctor. Pick any other doctor in Hackensack Hospital. I regret taking my mom to this doctor. My mom was referred to this doctor by her Gynecologist. My mom was diagnosed with advanced Cervical Cancer in the summer of 2024. She started chemo the following month. When the doctor did checkups she would hurt my mom, she was really rough. She also did a biopsy and took 2 big samples and walked out of the room. We did not know if she was finished or if we had to wait in the room. She doesn’t explain anything and just walks out of the room. My mom did not stop bleeding after the biopsy. There is no communication between this doctor and the patient. You will be talking to a nurse because the doctor doesn’t talk to you she walks out the room. This doctor kept rushing the other doctor that was giving chemo treatment to my mom. We both wanted to wait but she kept saying she had to have surgery. My mom had to get a total hysterectomy. She had to stop getting chemo… treatment 1 month before surgery and after the surgery so she could heal. She was supposed to remove the lymph nodes in the pelvic area during surgery. She didn’t and mom’s cancer spread aggressively after the surgery. The surgery was rushed because she knew we were changing insurance. This doctor only cares about getting paid she does not care about the patient. She should have suggested to get more treatment to make sure cancer tumor kept shrinking not surgery. Do more research most doctors suggest treatment for advanced Cervical Cancer. Please stay away and find a better doctor. My mom passed away because the cancer spread in the lymph nodes and then to other area in her body. Surgery was not the best option for her. The treatment she was receiving from the other doctor was actually working and shrinking her tumors. I am so sorry I took my mom to this doctor.

I had to get a radical hysterectomy when I found out I had cancer. First of all I always went to the GYN for checkups and complaining for years of complications with Dr Ahmed Gafer a Gyn at Hackensack Hospital, and he never caught the problem until it was too late and I had cancer !! The whole time him telling me I would be really sick if I had cancer or severe problems!! Smh , horrible gynecologist, please ?? guys stay far away from him !!! With that said he refers me to dr Mira Hellman and she does a procedure and then schedules me for a hysterectomy that was supposed to be 2 hours long (winded up being 4) , I go, I wake up and I’m in a room and I’m in excruciating pain , the worst I’ve ever been in my life , I couldn’t even cough. So I’m sitting there for a good 8 hours before they get dr Hellman , after asking multiple times since no one wanted to tell me anything. She finally comes and says “we couldn’t complete the surgery it was bad, you would’ve died on the table. I started… crying and said noooo and she nodded and said yes and left !!!!!!!! Whaaaaat??? What kind of doctor is that ???? Heartless !! Then I had to complete multiple procedures and radiation chemo, the whole 9 and still never was explained to me what’s going to happen to me , no explanations of anything!! And another thing she does is cancel appointments if you’re a few mins late. I was in the parking lot , that was beyond full walking there and the nurse calls me and I said I’m right outside, come to find out she cancels !! I was a few minutes late for surgery before and she cancelled, cancer is eating away at my life and it’s all time consuming for the sake of my life but she just doesn’t care ! I’m over here fighting for my life while being a mother of 8 and 5 young ones and 3 with disabilities!!! It’s hard and she has NO COMPASSION!!!! If it’s only all about the $, she needs to go be a lawyer or something where you don’t need compassion and you only need presentation! Because that’s all she has! She presents herself like she cares during consultation and after that her actions show everything opposite!! I would HIGHLY recommend the other two doctors in there before her !!! Oh and another thing , they won’t allow you to change doctors once you’re seen by one! There’s 2 others in there that can take my case but they say no because she “knows everything on my case “ ! What ??! It’s the same office and hospital!!! Everyone there should know my case if i transfer it to them! Horrible excuse! And me , I’m just left to die!! ??

If your researching, MOVE on. This Doctor should not be your Doctor!!!

I will NOT return in my fifth year of being cancer free to HER! Go get a psychology course in dealing with HUMAN LIFE

I went to Dr. Hellmann for a hysterectomy. I had Uterine cancer. Dr. Hellmann was wonderful. She was so sweet and compassionate. She answered all of my questions. I never felt rushed. She took all the time that I needed.

She saved my moms life, my family is forever in her debt for that. Amazing woman, amazing surgeon.

At first i saw a young,caring and patient doctor.I had to have two biopsy's close together and wound up hemoraging and going to local hosp. to find out the dr. on call never told dr.hellman I was going to hosp. my local hosp did say you had 2 procedures so close together.I didn't think Dr. hellman did anything wrong still was confident in her.until the day of my hysterectomy what happened to Dr.Hellman rwj hosp was awful and she seemed like a diff. Dr. in there. After procedure that took far longer than told up in my room not knowing anything but pain asked for a dr. which the nurse said you only had hysterectomy I knew something was wrong by the amount of pain. day2 no dr. hellman dealt with vicious nurse wanting a dr.get a resident I have pnemonia didn't feel sick no fever still want my dr.day3 should be going home but I am not but don't know why because no dr. hellman. however the covering dr.neeves was kind and compassionate. oh i did see dr. hellman for about a min she says your… small intestine fell during surgery no big deal. ok but the pain and when am I going home but she was gone already.If it wasn't for her associate I would've flipped more. so after day4 I can go home still no dr. hellman. obviously mistakes happen but explain to me. i still don't know what is going on with the colon. spoken to lawyer he told me go for the follow up.i will have major anxiety seeing a dr. who i trusted and bragged about. i feel the whole rwj experience was definitely not the place to go. I should've stayed in my area. never ever would I now say anything good about dr.hellman and the hosp. was even worse. nurses should pick another profession.I was a quiet and scared patient couldn't imagine if i was elderly.
