Summary

Dr. Vranic, is the CEO and founder of Western Vascular Institute. Dr Vranic realized his passion for medicine and Vascular Surgery specifically as a young child in Indiana. Dr. Vranic was hit by a car while riding his bike as a 9yr old and received severe trauma to his foot nearly severing it. His father rushed him to the hospital where the orthopedic surgeons told his mother and father that they would have to remove his foot. Vranic’s father wanted a second opinion and met a vascular surgeon who was able to repair the blood vessels and reattach his foot. After spending time recovering at home young Vranic posted a hand-drawn picture on his bedroom door that read “Dr. Mitar Vranic, Vascular Surgeon” as this man who had saved his foot was now his hero. This experience as a child and his passion for learning & excellence led him to be one of the most innovative and creative vascular surgeons in the country. Dr Vranic is Board certified by the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery and Fellowship trained in both General Surgery and Vascular Surgery as well as holding a certification in wound care.

Dr. Vranic completed two vascular surgery fellowships, one traditional fellowship following his residency in general surgery at Ohio University in Columbus, and an additional fellowship at the Arizona Heart Institute where he learned cutting edge minimally invasive endovascular techniques from his mentor, AHI founder, & world-recognized surgeon, Dr. Edward B. Diethrich.

As part of his advanced training as a vascular surgeon, Dr. Vranic received certification as a wound care specialist and hyperbaric oxygen specialist through extensive training in the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. Dr. Vranic is a Board Examiner of Vascular Surgery for both oral and written examinations and has been for over ten years at Midwestern University, Dr. Vranic has certification in Non-invasive Vascular Duplex/Ultrasound as well as Trauma Ultrasound.
