Dr. Mitchell Stuart Akman, MD

He has an Extremely Rude Medical Assistant. She feels has the right to come between patient and Doctor. When asked to get information on Labs which were done at the request of the Doctor, she assumed that all she had to do was send them to me. It started with a message left on their answering machine which requested info on the labs which the office that they should had for over a month with no response. When the office called me back she told me they were sending the labs to me. She seemed hostile when I asked if the Doctor had looked at them or if he is sending notes with them. She said she didn't know. Asked if there was any note on them she said she was only to send them to me. Asked if the doctor would look at them before she sent them to be, I was told only if I set up an appointment. However I would not be allowed an in office appointment as they were only allowed for new patients and not existing patients. Direction comes from the top. Doctor makes sure he has a slew… of new patients so when the existing patients leave for lack of care he has new replacements. Hashimotos needs proper monitoring, my thyroid is dying, but when I received the office report copies I could see he had not even requested the right tests!

I love Dr. Akman. He is so nice and patient with my girls when i take them in. I feel like his receptionist is rude and does not have people skills at all. It is so hard to reach her for anything but when she gets in contact with YOU, don't dare have any questions or try to change your appointment, The rude in her will come out.

SENT MY BLOOD WORK TO USC WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND MY INSURANCE WOULD NOT PAY FOR IT. A LONG STORY, BUT SUFFICE IT TO SAY THAT AKMAN DID SO VINDICTIVELY FOR A PRIOR DISPUTE I HAD WITH HIM REGARDING USC.

After experiencing numerous health issues with comprehensive tests I was referred to Dr. Akman. He has been my Endocrinologist since approximately 2012. After only 1-2 office visits Dr. Akman diagnosed a serious problem requiring surgery. I have found his diagnosis and treatment to be right on. Dr. Akman is Compassionate, highly intelligent, and extremely serious regarding the treatment I have received. From the moment I arrive for my appointment, I am greeted immediately by his receptionist Tracy while signing in. I find his medical assistant Naomi delightful and caring. Tracy also tries her best to accommodate me when setting up my next appointments and definitely takes care of billing my insurance. When I need a prescription refill, all I need do is phone and leave a message for Naomi and it is taken care of quickly. I have had nothing but great results with this Dr. and his staff. Thank you Dr. Akman, Naomi and Tracy!

I transferred to another doctor in the middle of my treatment since it was impossible to contact his receptionist. The most unprofessional receptionist or scheduler I've ever seen. The Dr himself is a pompous a** believing that he is the only one who knows anything. His rude, dismissive attitude with patients AND fellow physicians overshadows any knowledge he might have; and the fact that he tolerates his scheduler and her total unprofessionalism just screams to the fact that they all think they're the only game around. I will go to Medford from now on for all of my care. If he is that unprofessional and self-centered then I certainly have no reason to believe that he has any concern whatsoever for my personal health and well-being.

Very good first impression! Professional, knowledgeable, and good follow up. Enjoyed his demeanor and felt comfortable. Very pleased to have him as my Doc.

I have been seeing Dr. Akman for about 4 years. He has never been rude to me, I know he might seem abrupt. But, he is not really. He is very knowledgeable. He does get to the facts, asks direct questions and expects direct answers. He is not there to chit chat about the weather. (But, he will a little, once you know him) I think the longest I have ever waited was about 25 mins total with about 15 in the waiting room and the rest in the examination room. The front desk ladies have always been friendly and nice. Never have I a problem getting an appointment. There was a nurse who might seem cool toward some people. She too was quite nice once she knew you. She has since retired.

My visit with Dr. AKMAN was quiet disappointing as I was looking forward to the benefits of his expertise in the field of endochronology and finally getting answers to my questions regarding my health issues. However, it was a a patient's nightmare. He was rude and obnoxious. He totally blew off my questions and treated me as if I were ignorant. His total disrespect of my questions and concerns were quickly dismissed by his rude mannerisms. He even talked down about his staff to me which I found to be very disrespectful and unprofessional. I was appalled that he had absolutely no bedside manner. He was very intimidating and talked down to me. Even though he is the only endocrinologist in Redding, I would travel to Sacramento or San Francisco for my health issues because I will not allow this doctor to treat me this way ever again. I highly suggest not using Dr. Akman to any future patients.

no confidence in his ability at all.. he seems to ignore anyone elses knowledge.. testing for the most basic and nothing more... his office is full of old men on their death bed.. his staff makes mistakes far to often and always seems stressed and tired.... he argues with other docs opinions and acts as if he is the only one who has knowledge.. I have found he is mistaken on the most basic of things... He has not kept up with the most current data regarding hormones at all... he prescribes only the types of meds that he gets a kick back from the major pharm companies for prescribing... He treats patients like a number and shoves them out the door... Google his name and you will see I am not the only one who feels this way...

I referred a family member after seeing Dr. Akman myself. Scheduling an appointment was difficult and the office staff incredibly rude. We had not received initial paperwork and the office person insisted it had been sent. I lack confidence in this because I have actually received another persons lab slips for radiation. When I called to question the treatment I was told I had received someone else medical lab slip. A definite breech of medical information, unprofessional and evidence that they are capable of major errors. Because we were 9 minutes late and did not have the paperwork he refused to see us. Incredibly rude and unprofessional.
