Dr. Mitchell Austin, MD

The doctor is awesome. He is funny and down to earth. he will put you at ease and gives you a plan. The problem starts the moment he walks you to the check outstation. The staff is rude and not helpful. Dr. Austin wanted a procedure done on me asap- he said within a week we would have answers. His staff told us it would be done in "weeks ". They forgot to file with my insurance, kept telling me it wasn't approved just yet and turns out it did not need a prior auth at all. When you call to check they talk to you like you are stupid and are very rude. All the other staff members at the other offices are so sweet and helpful. I ended up having the staff at the Lake Miriam office help get my procedure scheduled and provide me with my test results.

My son has a possible structural issue in his throat/ sinuses and Dr Austin refused to accept him as a patient. No explanation, no reasoning, just flat refusal. If your case is challenging, don't expect to have it looked at or fix by this doctor!

Dr. Austin was an hour and a half late to our sons surgery and offered no apologies. At my sons follow up appointment, he was 45 minutes late. I had another follow up today, 6 months later and the office tells me he is no longer with the practice. I wonder why. This is the most unprofessional doctor I've ever dealt with in my entire life. If he is even practicing anymore and you are debating whether to see him, I urge you to choose another doctor.

I absolutly love Dr. Austin, he attended both of my children, my oldest had ear,nose and throat done by him, and he was great with my son..my youngest got emergency ear tubes an he also helped us through everything. He is a great Dr. very sensitive with children ,explains everything to parents very patiently...so sad he is no longer with nemours.

My daughter has a wide array of medical problems and before this doctor even walked in he thought he had her all figured out. He barely examined her and was outwardly rude to me and my mother. He acted as if I was in denile and knew nothing about my daughter's condition. He also acted as if all kids with syndromes were all low functioning, which couldn't be farther from the truth. He thinks he knows everything and was very condesending...If you want a caring doctor, DO NOT take your child to Dr. Austin!!!!
