Dr. Mitchell Burnbaum, MD

Was checked for MS in 2011. MRI, Spinal tap done. He said nothing showed as MS and everything was good. 2018 seen a different neurologist and PA. They showed current MRI and the one from 2011. My wife and myself could clearly see the lesions on 2011 MRI. Doctor is arrogant and has hard time diagnosing and treating patients. Recommend a different neurologist.

His staff and front office are excellent! No complaints there! Dr. Burnbaum, on the other hand, has horrible bed side manner. He arrived into his exam room, one hour and fifteen minutes later than my appointment was to start. No introduction, he walks in and says “Everyone thinks they have MS.” As the verbal health history was taken, Dr. Burnbaum would interrupt to say we’re not looking at that, or that is not the main point. Went on for him to tell me he thinks nothing is wrong, despite my blue toes and my limbs visibly tremoring. He needed to warm up my hands under warm water for 10 minutes before we could start a nerve conduction test. Dr.Burnbaum was demeaning during the entire exam, and clearly had his mind made up about my health issues before he even spoke to me. At the end of the exam, his nurse knocks on the door to tell him how behind he is. He excuses himself from the room, and tells me to put my shoes on and he will be back. He does come back, about 10 minutes later, and… now states “everyone thinks they have Lyme disease”. What? I’m sorry, this was never, ever a discussion before, where did this even come from? We were here to talk about MS symptoms of four years. When I try to ask more questions and what I should do, he shuts both me and my husband down again. His final statement was, I don’t think you have anything neurologically going on, but you should go to the Mayo Clinic. Are you kidding me, you’re saying I’m perfectly healthy but need to go to Mayo.!?! Also, it was obvious to both my husband and I, he did not read my charts beforehand or the several Dr referrals that preceded this appointment that suspected MS. So, so disappointed in this lack of care, and professionalism!!! Update, I was diagnosed with POTS, a type of dystonia, from another physician and with following a common protocol, am feeling almost 100%. Beware who you put your health care into the hands of. Hippocrates oath was to do no harm. Remember this please, health care providers.

Testing was extreamly painful . Would not recomend!

Nerve testing done was in alot of pain during. There was no concern for my well-being.

Denigrated my condition (MS) and was the first to diagnose it.

I had a closed head injury 2002 and this is what he told my doctor over the phone..."I spoke with Mitch Burnbaum about her and he felt that there is probably no other testing that needed to be done. Nothing to do but let it resolve. He is happy to see her if we need, but sounds like he was not enthusiastic about that as there would not be much else to do and symptoms were compatible with closed head injury."

First time I saw him, diagnosed with 'dystonia' oh so certain that, but no explanation how I ended up that way. Three years later, I'm having seizures, vision loss, cerebral pressure, symptoms that are NOT dystonia. He refuses to have me get MRI, does same lame tests he did before, and now adds in my chart 'patient is more moody then before' . Yeah well great he thinks he's a shrink now, and his ego/refusal to take in account the new symptoms, or even think about what caused my initial symptoms in the first place reflect a doctor that doesn't think about what may be causing a previously extremely healthy athletic outdoor person to be reduced to a shaking, half-blind, barely able to walk, unemployed person. He should retire. No I wouldn't recommend him. If he had sent me for the MRI, before I became to ill to work, I wouldn't still be paying for it, and it would've show brain abnormalities which I still don't have a diagnosis of why or what is causing my illness.

I have been seeing Dr. Burnbaum for a couple of years. I am very happy with him. He spends time with me, discusses a lot with me about my issues with Multiple Sclerosis. I can only say good things about him.

Make the drive to Denver or Salt Lake instead! Poor bedside manner, was not open to trying to figure out what was causing pain. Stated he was running behind so he didn't have time to answer any questions. Waste of time and money! Still in pain and very frustrated!

one of the most caring, intelligent physicians I've known. He gives me all the time I need and, although he works very hard, he always finds time to return calls. I highly recommend him
