Horrible! I waited over an hour for my appointment. Did he apologize? No. It was a waste of my time. He did not listen to my concerns about the dosage. There was a weird smell in the office. I just felt so uneasy and upset! The office lady was rude. She was yelling at another person at the office because their kids were playing.

Listens and really researches the best treatment. Takes time with his patients to understand. Does not push medicine as first resort. We do expect to wait on appointment days, but I would rather wait and get the right treatment.

I want to respond to the comments that I read. I am frequently late because I take my time and do not rush. I am upfront to my patients about this. I also supervise consultations at a hospital and may answer calls from being on call while I am seeing patients or in-between patients. I do not hide that from my patients. The patient who said I only spent 5 minute with them is not telling the truth. I never spend only 5 minutes with my patient other than when someone is squeezed into a nursing clinic and the nurse has evaluated them and I then go over a few things and even then this is an unusual occurrence. They are generally doing quite well when this happens. Also the patient's know upfront that situation. What likely happened is that the patient did wait to see me, I spent 30 minutes with them and they had many issues and it was inappropriate for me to spend more time with them at that time. Now I do want to admit that the person who complained about me having walked by them… did have a legitimate complaint. I would like to explain. This happened in my private practice when I first started out. This location is not in Valparaiso. I rented space from therapists and at that time had no support staff. I saw many patients there and they also saw therapists there so someone waiting for me, I could have thought was waiting for someone else. I think that is what happened in that situation. It was my fault and one I feel bad about but it was not out of intentional rudeness. I do have support staff in my private practice and it is less likely to happen now. I apologize for giving myself a rating but I was not able to put these comments in otherwise. I could not figure out how to respond to the comments made about me but I was somewhat offended by someone saying that I spent 5 minutes with them. That just does not happen. I picked a middle of the road 3. I feel that I am at least average in the care I provide.

This doctor has a long wait to get in but he is very good... and I have seen many psychiatrists. He is knowledgeable and I think makes sound decisions. He does his research.

Dr. Goldstein is a caring, calm physician. Highly recommended.

My wife and I are experiencing numerous problems with my son who has an intellectual disability. We scheduled an appt and they canceled our appt twice! I finally got an appt and the Doctor only spent 5 min with us just to refill the prescriptions. When I wanted to ask him questions and tell him the problems I've been having with my son he told me "You'll have to schedule another appointment. It is unfair to my other patients that have been waiting." I was SO furious when he told me this. I already waited 30 minutes! He only prescribes medication and does not care about your concerns or needs. This was not the only bad experience I've had with this doctor. I'm in the process of finding a new doctor now.

He gives you his direct cell phone which I've called a few times. He either answers or calls you back within the hour. He even took my phone call at 8 pm while he was at the gym one time. For emergencies he schedules Saturday, Sunday, early morning, or late evening appointments to accommodate to you. I've seen many doctors across many different specialties and have never encountered one that encompasses such a kind and thoughtful manner. He truly wants to help. His office manager, Donna, has always been a plethora of information. And, unlike some doctors staff she is non-judgmental, honest, and will do whatever she can to meet your needs. They both have been a huge blessing!

He did not take much time with us. I never felt like he really listened to my concerns about my son. He would interupt me when I was talking to him. I found a new doctor for my son.

I scheduled vacation time to go to appt the doc himself scheduled. He has no nurse or office staff. He was 30 min. late to the appt. He didn't say a word to us as he passed us on his way into his office & shut the door. He came out 5 min later to cal another patient in who showed up a few minutes after he did. He still did not speak to us. After 10 minutes we called what we thought was his office number(which happened to be his cell). My husband reminded him of our appt, which he denied making. I happened to have the appt card that he wrote out. He told us we would have to come back 4 hours later and he would try to squeeze us in. We waited 30 additional minutes for that appt. I had to show him the appt card for him to believe we had an appt. Not a great 10 minute & third office visit. I refuse to pay for this office visit to this day!
