BPH had been making my life miserable for the last couple of years and I knew I had to do something about it. After a lot of study I decided that HOLEP was the best solution and I did a lot of research to find the best hospital and the best surgeon to get it done. I doubt that I could have made a better choice. Dr. Humphreys was simply the best. Never did I feel rushed, my questions were answered and scheduling was never a problem. I work in the health care field and Dr. Humpreys and the staff at Mayo Clinic couldn't have been better. Life is much better after HOLEP and I'd recommend Dr. Humphreys and the Mayo Clinic without hesitiation.

My BPH ran my life. Now it doesn't. Its like I'm 17 again. Everything I'd ever heard about the Mayo Clinic turned out to be true. My surgery was particularly difficult because my BPH was especially pronounced--so my surgery took 5 hours--not the normal 2 hours. The team was just great. And if they asked, I would do videos. Seriously. Can't say enough good about this doctor and his team.

Dr. Humphreys visited Mayo at Rochester for my HoLEP as a consulting surgeon. The procedure was textbook. I have no detrimental problems following the surgery. I was able to lift normally after two weeks: I installed a hardwood floor in my home at that time.

My husband had two diagnoses of certain death if he was operated on for bilateral staghorn kidney stones. They are extremely complicated and dangerous stones to have and to remove. My husband has a very complicated anatomy from being in a wheelchair since birth. Dr. Humphreys uses cutting edge technologies and is not willing to risk your life at all. He is extremely creative, inventive and he does not quit until you are as well as he can get you. Thanks to Dr. Humphreys, my husband is miraculously stone free, his life was never in danger and he actually has a chance at a new life, instead of the looming 40% death rate after the first five years of stone diagnosis. Dr. Humphreys is extremely honest and forthright. He won't put any pressure on you at all to let him operate on you and he sees his patients as part of the team deciding what care is best for them. He's not afraid of questions; he's a humble and courageous doc. He cares a great deal about his patients. I would trust… my life and anyone I loved to Dr. Humphreys care. The people on his team are great to work with and Mayo Clinic's level of care is unsurpassed. It's worth the trip and the effort to get to Phoenix, especially if your situation is complicated.

Dr Humphreys performed DaVinci surgery on me to remove my prostate with excellent results. I researched the heck out of doctors to do this proceedure on me and he seemed to be the best...and was.

I just returned from having the Holep procedure performed at Mayo Clinic (Phoenix). I'm happy to report that my procedure went very well. I was not looking forward to the catheter but in the end it was worth it. I experienced very little pain. In fact, the only time I took any pain medication was during the time I was in the recovery room. I'm 52 years old and I would highly recommend the holep to any man that is suffering from the symptoms of BPH. Moreover, I'd highly recommend that you have Dr. Humphreys perform the procedure. Dr. Humphreys and his staff are truly excellent!! He is very knowledgeable and he kept me accurately informed at each step of the way. Dr. Humphreys was correct...from the momment my catheter was removed, I notice a dramatic improvement! I'm peeing like a teenager again! Thank you Dr. Humphreys!!

A RECENT PSA TEST, PERFORMED BY MY FAMILY PHYSICAN, INDICATED A LARGE SPIKE IN THE TEST RESULTS AS COMPARED TO A PREVIOUS TEST 3 YEARS EARLIER. MY CONCERN OVER THIS JUMP PROMPTED ME TO CONTACT THE STAFF AT MAYO TO ARRANGE TO HAVE A FOLLOW UP EXAM. THE REGISTRATION, CHECK IN, DR. CONSULTATION AND LAB DRAWS WERE ALL DONE IN LESS THAN 90 MINUTES. DR. MITCHELL HUMPHRIES WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL IN EXPLAINING THE FACTORS INVOLVED IN PSA TESTS AND WHAT THE RESULTS MAY INDICATE. FOLLOWING OUR DISCUSSION I IMMEDIATLEY HAD LAB TESTS AT THE HOSPITAL. WITHIN 10 HOURS AFTER THESE TESTS I WAS CALLED BY A MAYO REPRESENTATIVE AND GIVEN THE TEST RESULTS (WHICH WERE FOUND TO BE VERY FAVORABLE). I WOULD RECOMMEND MAYO CLINIC AND THE ENTIRE STAFF TO ANYONE. EVERYONE FROM THE RECEPTIONIST, TO THE REGISTRATION PERSONNEL, TO THE LAB TECHNICIANS AND CERTAINLY DR. MITCHELL MADE MY VISIT A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.
