Dr. Mitchell N Luu, MD

Dr. Luu has been my doctor at Kaiser for a number of years now. I feel lucky to have him as my primary physician. He's very intelligent, knowledgeable, experienced and caring. At my appointments, he actively listens to my issues and provides his medical explanation that I fully trust and value. Kaiser Oakland is lucky to have him! Thank you Dr. Luu!

Dr. Luu is a fount of knowledge and very clear about details. He's fairly easy-going and always reassuring to visit.

I see this doctor. He is thorough and up to date on his medical knowledge and is tidy. Why the heck would I want ambiguous diagnosis, so that I could get pain medication? I know he is tough on narcotics, and I'm glad he is!

Perhaps Dr. Luu is compelled by his employing hospital to engage with patients in a manner that can--for me, at least--feel judgmental and infantilizing? I'm not sure. I would change providers, but this particular institution doesn't make a transfer of care easy to undertake. So, I avoid visits for as long as I can and brace myself before an appointment. I'm sure Dr. Luu means well.

Dr. Luu is friendly, but my issue is mainly that when I come in describing symptoms, I felt like that was completely ignored to try and provide a neat and tidy “diagnosis”. Afterwards, I’m still experiencing the same issue but didn’t feel any more confident with how to address it.
