Dr. Mitchell Andrew Stotland, MD

While I was on the gurney with an IV in my arm, waiting to be wheeled into the OR, Dr. Stotland asked me to sign a release allowing Dr. Freed, a resident, to operate on my face. Dr. Stotland assured me that the resident would not do "anything important". The side of the my face that Dr. Freed operated on is a mess, and Dr. Stotland refused to fix it. There is also a huge dent in my right hip where fat was removed. Never, ever, sign anything allowing a resident to touch you. Be warned.

Not for rhinoplasty!!!

I had a very small freckle removed and pre cancer cells were found. I was then referred to Stotland to close the small bee bee size hole. I only got to meet him the morning of the surgery, He came in looked at my nose and said "Piece of cake" I TRUSTED he was a top PLASTIC SURGEON! I was devastated after surgery as he had fileted my entire nose. I was left with what looked like a mitten. He made these Z cuts down my nose, he said that was better than a straight scar I don't think after two years I should still be looking at very deep Z scar. Its very sad for me. His arrogance was "File suit on me". He also had a gal come in and was typing everything that was said when we discussed my nose. Even the doctor who removed the mole apologized to me. The nurse looked at me said, he goofed. The last time I saw him he said we'll just sand the bump down a little. When I got home the hospital had called and said I would have to pay this out of pocket, really? I tried to get a return call from… him and he never returned my 3 calls. My nose now has a hard bump and turns purple in the winter or when its cold. Dr. Stotland your arrogance needs to be knocked down more than a few notches. I got a letter this week that he is headed to Saudi Arabia and I couldn't be happier. I hope he stays there..

Dr. Stotland is marvelous with children- and not just any children, children who are disfigured either from birth or a traumatic event. It takes a very special person to help kids that fall into that category. He was very kind to my 3 month old. He was attentive to her, preformed a through examination and established an aggressive treatment plan. His focus was always on her well being. Answered all of my questions and was genuinely in my daughters corner, ready to fight for her. We were not rushed, pushed or flat out told what the plan was. Excellent mannerisms, very smart man and skilled surgeon.

My rhinoplasty results were extremely disappointing. It is obvious Stotland did not listen to me, or achieve my goals. I believe he imposed his aesthetic on me, never telling me my goals were not attainable. It is a completely unacceptable result, which has cost me a huge amount of money and much remorse/regret (This result looks surprisingly similar to his own nose in many ways.) Not a good sign. I would caution against allowing him to ever perform this operation on anyone. Arrogant and dismissive, and over rated, especially by a biased staff. Not for rhinoplasty.

I felt RUSHED and not LISTENED to.Very displeased with the entire experience. Not recommended.It was a huge waste of money and time.Extremely disappointing.

I trusted Dr. Stotland and his recommendations from the start. I had a great outcome of my surgery. DHMC is a great place to receive care. I'd send a family member to see Dr. Stotland if needed.
