I was shocked when I was informed I had a mass and a tumor stage 3A. I was very depressed and the Dr. that did Biopsy said he could refer my case to Cone or a Higher academic institute which he was probably referring to Duke, Unc or Baptist. I made the right choice in going to Cone because I have a Doctor that is really compassionate and 5 star in my opinion on knowledge, professionalism and first class. Dr AKL was very clear in describing why I needed surgery, but also gave me a more conservative non-surgical option. I chose the reconstruction surgery because I've suffered decades of bladder infections, incomplete urine voiding and other collapsed internal organ issues. His explanations about the procedures made me feel very comfortable and confident in his expertise. He let me ask questions and answered them precisely. He was conscientious and compassionate. He treated me with dignity and respect. He showed continued concern for my post op care and made sure I was ok. Even six weeks post op when I had questions, he made a personal call to explain the processes of my healing and assured me all was normal according to the recovery time. He was courteous and kind throughout every aspect of my care His staff members were also very attentive to my needs. Every part of my surgery procedures at the Banner Gateway outpatient surgical center was also handled with kindness and professionalism… by all involved. Dr Mohamed is one of the most compassionate oncologist around.I have been under his care for 5 years ( stage 4 NSCLC ) He is a great doctor,he listens,he cares and he is up to date on current treatments.Great staff.
