Dr. Mohammad Saeed, MD

When I was 16 Dr. Saeed put me on a medication that I later realized I never had any reason to take. He was not honest with me about the likelihood and severity of the side effects, and now, 14 years later, I am still suffering the consequences. The damage he did to my quality of life is immeasurable. And again- it's all for nothing. I never even needed that drug. I guess the silver lining is that the anger I've had to work through has certainly built a lot of character. My advice, for what it's worth- only turn to psychiatric treatment as a last resort. The risks are so high, and Dr. Saeed is certainly not the only shrink out there with a God complex.

Dr. Saeed's expertise, by his own account, is in finding the most appropriate medication for his patient. He is not comfortable with the role of psychiatrist as counselor, but rather in understanding the underlying issues, prescribing the best medicine, and following up to make sure the patient is progressing and using the drug properly. He is unfailingly courteous and sympathetic and is always pleased with a client is cooperative and asks for more information. Dr. Saeed treated me for pre-menopausal depression in the 1980's. He first prescribed lithium and, based on my verbal report of its effects, was able to pinpoint the issue through further blood tests. The drug he prescribed was Parnate, an MAO inhibitor. This drug enabled me to overcome the worse of my symptoms. I remain grateful that I was led to Dr. Saeed at that time in my life.
