Dr. Mona Mukesh Patel, MD

We had an extremely upsetting experience with Dr. Patel. She left the country for vacation without arranging a backup physician, and during that time, our son needed medication—medication that can cause complications if not properly titrated. The situation was incredibly stressful, and as a result, we decided to switch doctors. Dr. Patel offered no explanation for this negligence and then proceeded to pursue billing through legal action.

If I could give this doctor a zero I would. She is abrupt, does not explain any medication side effects to you and literally sees you for 5 minutes a visit. She does not seem to care at all about her patients and overmedicates. I went to another psychiatrist after seeing Dr. Patel for some time and he told me the dosages of the medication I was on were way too high. In fact he believed some of the issues I was having were actually medication related. She never asks if you are having any side effects and if you don't know what all the side effects are how would be be able to correlate it to the medication. She doesn't listen to her patients...very unsympathetic and uncaring. Seems like she is just going through the motions. Do NOT go to this doctor.

Nasty person dont waste your time!

I would not recommend dr Patel to anyone seeking psychiatrist care. She has little care for her patients. I went to her after my therapist told me I’m displaying signs of bipolar disorder and I told dr Patel I was depressed and she told me my therapist doesn’t know what she’s talking about and that I have ADHD and low self esteem. She immediately put me on an extremely high dose of vyvanse (70 MG) and sent me away. A few months later, I managed to convince her I was depressed and she put me on lexapro. I became suicidal and when I told her this, she didn’t take me seriously! I told her I would like to stop lexapro and instead of listening to my concerns, she increased my dosage. She also tried to convince me that my recollection of an episode I had was wrong. I told her that she has the story wrong and she responded with “i would know it’s in my notes”. I eventually ended up in the ER due to being suicidal and was put in a partial hospitalization program. After explaining my experience… to them, they urged me not to see her again and fixed my medication to one that works for me. After finding a new doctor who believes what I said and cares about how I felt about my meds, I am in a much better place. I trusted dr Patel because she is a doctor and one would assume she knows best but I now know how important it is to have a doctor that trusts you as well and and truly cares about you. Please do not trust this woman with your medical needs. After my experience, I would highly recommend you find someone else.

She really helped me. Caring, easy to talk to, intelligent and very knowledgeable

Doesn't do research on behalf of the patient in terms of drug interactions. Rude and curt on the phone. She actually said within 30 seconds of calmly speaking with her "I don't have time I have to go." It's scary to think that if I hadn't done research on drug interactions what could have happened. She could have cared less. You get the feeling she just hands you Lexapro no matter who you are. I would NEVER recommend her.

Dr. Patel was very pleasant and easy to talk to. She is very intelligent and on top of todays medications. I found it very convenient that she has three on staff therapists her for my son as well. A great fit.

Prescribes way too many medications and doesn't do a thorough job explaining meds or conditions they're treating. Awful and unreasonable.

This doctor is a glorified drug dealer with an MD at the end of her name. Without regard to side effects or patient family complaints, she doles out ADHD medications/amphetamines and antidepressants to patients who, if she listened closely, are misusing them terribly. People like her are helping to perpetuate the addiction problems we have in our high schools and colleges. Beware.

I went to see Dr. Patel about my son to have him evaluated for ADHD. She sent us away for a few months to start therapy and have a neurologist's evaluation. Even though both the therapist and neurologist felt that my son did not have ADHD, she was convinced he had, after only meeting him once! She was only interested in starting him on medication and not discussing other possible causes for his behavior. I will not be returning or recommending her to any of my family/friends.
