Dr. Muhammad Tahir Munir, MD

I was scared like everyone else with this whole pandemic and people dying. I am otherwise healthy but was scared of going crazy again. Had been through bad spells with my emotional roller coaster life. I started rationing my meds worried that won’t be able to see Dr. Munir as very thing was shutting down. But amazed with Harmony people and the doctor they called for my appointment checking on me and assured they are trying to work remotely. I did my appointment last week .I realized how a great doctor has been taking care of me I felt so much relieved. He explained everything about this corona made sure I am not losing it. His team is great filled my prescriptions fought the insurance for covering it for 90 days. I am glad stayed with him not looked for insurance panel doctors .It’s worth everything to be sane especially now. LOL.

Dr.Munir has been my psychiatrist for almost 8 years till I moved out of state I’ve been fortunate that got in treatment with him. I have been struggling with Bipolar disorder for all my life but never knew what I had and was not getting better. I remember my first session with Dr Munir, he listened to my issues and then explained every step of my treatment. I was hopeless felt nothing is working but he always assured me and took care of me. I was upset with him that he is not understanding but he was I did not see that. He called back when I had a question, he called to check on me when my mom was really sick and I was really depressed Thank God my mom is well now. I knew he is good but realized a lot when I moved and saw a new psychiatrist here. His staff is great they always help with med refills and paperwork .My husband may get his position back in Indy and we move and I can get back in with him.

Of the 10 years that I spent as a patient of Dr. Munir's, every trimonthly visit was the same: a 15 minute survey and medication adjustments based off of the answers I gave to said survey. There was never any guidance on how to handle what I was going through. No felt empathy, even though some of his words stated otherwise. The medications he prescribed helped, sure, but I mainly credit my ability to work through my major depression and anxiety to myself. Mental illness is such a prominent and insidious epidemic, and meeting with patients for only 15 minutes to give “band-aid solutions” (medications) and not offer any actual insight is problematic. That is not to say that medications are not necessary in certain cases, but there are other alternatives that Dr. Munir never seemed to suggest or press (i.e. therapy- which is extremely important if you want to get to the root cause of mood disorders). He’s a nice man and I’m thankful for his role in my journey, but I’m disappointed that he… practices psychiatric medicine in such a lack-luster way.

Harmony and Dr Munir are great they have done everything for me.I have been seeing therapist and psychiatrists for year. Had to come and see Munir because my last doctor left. He has been very meticulous and observant. He did not rush on my meds,have been on a lot before he takes time to make treatment work. I have not felt that balanced and great in years and thank him and his people who are always helping with medications and insurances. thanks God bless you all.

I went to Dr Munir with a referral from my therapist. Dr Munir prescribed a medication that did not help. When ever I called with problems he increased my dosage. My therapist and family noted a personality change. Dr Munir eventually quickly (4 days) took my off the medication. He went on vacation. HE HAS NO BACK UP PSYCHIATRIST OR EVEN PHYSICIAN. I went to an urgent care to get help with the dibilitating nausea and anxiety but ended up in the ER. I called his office and they suggested I call a crisis center?!? I do not recommend Dr Munir because I found his actions to be irresponsible. I have never seen a physician who did not have an emergency contact. The office workers offered no help. With my ER visit I was told after they consulted with a psychiatrist Dr Munir took me off my original antidepressant and new antidepressant too quickly and I was suffering withdrawal from both.

We are very thankful to harmony staff for taking such good care of my daughter. We have worked with other providers before but Dr. Munir and Elizabeth are God send .They have made such a big difference in my daughter’s life. We struggled a lot for years switching medications and not getting her symptoms in control but he explained it well and adjusted to get her stable She is not hurting anymore and Elizabeth works with her for improving her skills. They have stopped working with insurance but we are continuing care as it’s worth everything having our daughter back I wish other patents could understand their kids struggle and get care in time and with right person I highly recommend Elizabeth and Dr.Munir to anyone who wants to improve their life.

Feel my friend is upset with the insurance troubles. I myself work in a hospital and know the misery but to understand doctors are not treated well so they are leaving the hospitals and not working with insurances. Dr.Munir is a great physician and has been taking care of my mental health needs for 8 years. Iâ??ve enormous trust in him and thankful for all he has done and donâ??t care what insurances do he will stay my DOCTOR!

Not sure if the other reviews can possibly be real, but anyway... Every experience with him was very odd. He has a very disagreeable personality and will not listen to anyone that isn't himself. (I actually noticed this every time he interacted with his office staff as well). For our second to last scheduled session he spent the WHOLE time arguing with me about how my insurance hadn't been paying and I had terrible coverage, and that he would be dropping my provider (this was because his office staff was billing my wrong insurance EVERY time -- unreal!!). Never bothered to ask me once about how my medication was working (although, he billed me for a full appointment! -- very unethical). During that session, I told him repeatedly that his staff was processing claims incorrectly. He insisted on aggressively talking over me to let me know that it didn't matter and they would be dropping my provider. Well, lo and behold, at my next scheduled appointment I arrived after driving 20… minutes to get there to be informed that he had indeed dropped by provider, but I could go ahead and pay the full cash amount for this visit -- haha!!! I left angrily and followed up with my provider and they confirmed that the only time his office had contacted them recently was to cancel coverage, and that they would have happily processed any claims if he had ever submitted them. [Long story short, he wanted me to pay full cash price instead of taking a negotiated rate with my company's insurance provider. I work for a Fortune 50 company that has excellent benefits, BTW.] Basically, find someone who cares about you and not just the money.
