Dr. Murliya D Gowda, MD

I saw Dr Gowda about 6 months ago because my oncologist was convinced I had an infection and not cancer as I have several enlarged lymph nodes . The office staff was great and so was Dr Gowda. She did an initial assessment and ran some tests and told to go back to the oncologist and have them do a biopsy as she didn’t think I had any infection and wouldn’t do any more unnecessary testing until the biopsy results came back. The biopsy came back as stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma and I am now 3/4 of the way through my chemotherapy.

Recently I developed an infection after a surgical procedure and the pathogen proved to be rather dangerous as it was resistant to all oral antibiotics.  With a temperature spiking over 103 degrees I was admitted to the hospital.  The course of treatment seemed unclear until Dr. Murliya Gowda appeared on the scene.  This vey strong recommendation of Dr. Gowda is based on three factors. 1.)  Dr. Gowda assessed the problem and determined a course of action.  She did this very thoughtfully, with reference to my past medical history.  She prescribed an infusion protocol and carefully monitored its progress, making adjustments as necessary in a timely manner.  At all times she seemed aware of my situation, even when my care was moved to my home, with frequent blood draws by visiting nurses, and two in-office visits. In addition, Dr. Gowda has the right persona for an infectious disease specialist.  Not only does she exhibit a calm, studious manner, she is also very courteous, kind, and… pleasant.  This is exactly how a physician should practice the science and art of medicine.  I was very comfortable with her as a complete caregiver, and would not hesitate to recommend her to others. 2.)  Dr. Gowda is backed by a staff that also exhibits the same traits as she does. Those working the front desk were efficient, yet cheerful.  The nurses were skilled and cordial.  This atmosphere helps put the patients at ease. 3.)  Dr. Gowda is part of a medical practice that I have dealt with before when hospitalized in 2019, i.e., Infectious Disease Consultants.  Although she did not work with me then, three of her colleagues did.  Drs. Trevor Uyemura and Stephen Weinroth were the first two to see me and assess my situation.  Dr. Gelareh Alavi successfully concluded my case and sent me home.  All were serious professionals.  And Dr. Alavi‘s cordial wrap up and felicitous push to get me out of the hospital in time for a Weird Al concert that evening has convinced me that Dr. Gowda‘s practice as a whole is a superb place to seek care when confronted by a serious infectious disease.

What a memory! She always seems to remember me when I have to come in for an office visit. And importantly knowledgable and helpful.

Dr. Gowda doesn't really want to listen to you or talk much. She could be a wonderful person personally, but lacks compassion towards the patient. She is frequently late and appointments need to be rescheduled with her. Her staff will typically cover for her by stating "She is running late from the hospital". Definitely needs better time management and respect towards others.

This doctor is a self-centered, know it all who doesn't listen at all to her patients. Do not see her!

I am American Egyptian Living now in overseas after retiring. I visited the US on an emergency basis because I had an ulcer in my right foot. All the doctors in Egypt decided that there is no way and that part of my foot will be amputated. I was desperate when I visited Dr. Gowda office. After checking my foot , she decided that there is some hope. After 6 weeks of the best treatments ever , I am back again to normal and that ulcer is gone. I personally had a negative experience with Dr. Gowda. The appt was easy to make, but I had a long wait time, difficult to juggle with kids. Dr. Gowda was not as thorough as I would have liked. I definitely feel she could have spent more time discussing my issues with me and generally investigating the medical problems. I felt she was distracted and I also thought she was a little arrogant. I think doctors should examine other doctors opinions before passing judgment. I personally will not be returning.

Some of these make no sense. I've been going to see this lady for many years. She is among the most caring and kind individuals I have ever known, let alone being a skilled MD who is an absolute perfectionist in her specialty. I was referred to her by a friend who has also been her patient for about 10 years. Dr. Murliya Gowda ALWAYS calls to see how I am doing in the early evenings a day or two after my appointments. Always makes sure I am protected with all the current vaccinations. Goes through my Meds list with a fine toothed comb making sure there are no interactions. Absolutely obsessed with my welfare. Even knows the names of my kids. I would not trade her for anyone else.
