Dr. Murray Frederic Caplan, MD

Dr Caplan moved to a new office with new doctors and now it is horrible. Loved him when he was at his own office. Now if you go to the new office you wait almost an hour to see him and there isnt a seperate area for sick kids. I am looking for a new doctor after 13 years with him.He is a great doctor but the office staff is horrible.

If only Dr. Caplan could clone himself across a broad spectrum of fields! He's kind, knowledgeable, and treats my son like he's his! Dr. Caplan is my picture of an ideal human being, not just a pediatrician.

Having an established relationship with Dr. Caplan for 25 yrs, I am extremely disappointed with the service, or lack of, that we received today. My daughter, age 24 was a patient of Dr. Caplan's since birth and now takes her children to this practice. Her 6 mos. old daughter had an appt. today for a check up and shots. She's underweight for her age, and Dr. Caplan has been advising as to her needs and diet because of this. We called on the way to explain we were running late due to unforseen circumstances and were driving 40 miles one way to get there. We were told by their anwering service the staff was at lunch and to "come on in." We arrived 15 min. late and were informed by the front desk that they were refusing to see my Granddaughter. I asked to speak with Dr. Caplan and he came to the empty waiting room, and rudely explained that he wouldn't treat my Granddaughter because we were late. I would have somewhat understood if there had been patient's waiting to be seen, however, both… waiting rooms were completely empty! I have managed a physician practice in the past and understand that some patients are habitually late and if this were the case, could understand if they were attempting to make a point. However, my daughter had never been late or missed an appointment with him. We explained the situation and the immediate need to have the baby seen and weighed and still, he refused to treat her. I have spoken with several other physicians and patients, all of which have never refused, or been refused treatment due to being late to an appointment. We then asked for the baby's medical records and the staff refused to produce them, explained there was a $25 fee involved and that it would take 2 weeks to receive the records! They wouldn't even give us a copy of her shot records and instructed us to call the office manager. He was unprofessional as well, even after explaining the situation in its' entirety. Needless to say, Dr. Caplan has now lost 3 patients because of he and his staff's unprofessionalism and showing absolutely no concern for my Granddaughter's welfare. Further, it made no difference to him that we had been loyal patients of his for 25 years and were commuting 40 miles one way to maintain the relationship! I find it a joke that Dr. Caplan names his practice "Child 1st Pediatrics" as this is proof this is definitely NOT the case.

He has helped my grandson so much. He continues to manage his ADHD, meds etc. in a way that is caring, effective and prompt. I would not go to anyone else. WOW!
