Dr. Myron Irwin Murdock, MD

We had the unfortunate experience of being treated by Dr. Murdock, and I feel compelled to share my concerns on behalf of my father regarding his approach with elderly African American male patients, especially those dealing with sensitive and challenging conditions like prostate cancer. It is very clear that Dr. Murdoch has a clinical knowledge base that spans over 30 years that cannot be denied, but his bedside manner leaves much to be desired. In particular, I witnessed an alarming tendency to speak to my father and mother as though their concerns were trivial, often belittling their questions or dismissing their worries without the empathy or compassion one would expect from a medical professional. It was clear that he lacked sensitivity toward the emotional weight of prostate cancer, which can be a deeply distressing diagnosis for anyone, but especially for older black male patients who are not only facing the daunting realities of aging and illness, but also the reality that… they aren't cared for in the same way as other individuals. Dr. Murdoch seemed to downplay or dimiss the difficulties of treatment options, making certainly me feel foolish for asking additional questions or seeking reassurance. His tone was patronizing, and on more than one occasion, he us feel as though we were a burden for simply expressing our concerns. This dismissive attitude was not only unprofessional but also deeply hurtful, especially given the vulnerable position that many patients like my father with prostate cancer find themselves in. The ability to communicate with respect, dignity, and understanding is paramount, particularly when dealing with elderly patients facing life-altering conditions. Sadly, this was not our experience with Dr. Murdoch. I would strongly advise seeking a doctor who approaches these sensitive issues with more care, patience, and compassion.

DR Murdock has been excellent in handling my medical condition for the past eleven years. His experience and knowledge in the field of Urology is excellent.

I have been a patient of Dr. Murdock for the past 30 years. His knowledge and expertise in the field of Urology make him one of if not the best Urologist in the DC area. If you make an appointment plan on getting to see him up to an hour after the appointment time but the wait is well worth it. Dr. Murdock will not release a patient until all questions and issues have been resolved.

This was my first visit. Other than the long wait time it was a good visit. Dr.Murdock took his time and explained the results of my testing and I did not feel rushed. He communities very well and has a wealth of knowledge and experience..

The perfect doctor. Too perfect! He is so popular and so willing to spend time with patients, that he tend to run late. It's worth the wait.

I stumbled upon Dr. Murdock by "mistake" some 20 years ago. I had been released from the ER twice and told to see a urologist. I was a college student at the time so I has NO insurance. I had made an appointment to see a urologist in his building but when I got there there were so many!! So I walked in to his office crying bc I didn't know which doctor I has the appointment with and my appointment was in 5 mins. I had 5 mins to figure out which of the 10 or so urologists in the building I had an appointment with. I was stressed out bc it wasn't easy to find a doctor w out having ANY insurance. So the lady behind the desk told me to calm down and gave me some tissue. I told her you don't understand I have been to the ER twice in 48 hours and they tell me I have to see a urologist. I called every one in the phone book and finally found ONE who was willing to see me. She said well Dr. Murdock is a very caring doctor if you could just wait 15 mins I will go talk to him for you. I trusted… her. She came back and told me he would see me. He looked over my hospital reports and tests and told me he would need to treat me and that he would so it for FREE! He asked me why I has no insurance I told him bc I was a student at the University and I had been dropped off of my mothers insurance when I turned 21. I asked him why he was willing to treat me and he simply said young lady I have TWO sons in college right now and if either of them showed up to a doctor in YOUR condition I would hope that a doctor would treat THEM! He scheduled the in office procedure, did the procedure and did the follow up and I never received a bill and I didn't see a urologist again until I was over 40 (following child birth). I wish there were more Dr. Murdock's in this world! We sure could use MORE like him!

Dr. Murdock has good communication skills. I have noticed that some of his peers come to Dr. Murdock for his opinion on certain medical issues.

I have been a patient of Doctor Murdock for 14 years. He is everything that a physician should be. He is super-intelligent, and truly cares for the patient as a person. I never feel rushed during an appointment. He goes the extra mile to make certain that the patient endures the minimum possible discomfort during any procedure - or no discomfort. He never "pushes" for needless procedures. He is the ultimate. His staff does tend to over-book his schedule a bit, but it is worth spending a little extra time in the waiting room.
