Dr. Nadia Ali Mirza, MD

Dr. Mirza was my psychiatrist during my stay at Good Samaritan Hospital in 5/24. She didn't listen to me when I explained my depression and fatigue was caused by a brain injury. Although I had been seeing a neurologist, she dismissed this information and said I should have electric shock therapy. She told me I was taking advantage of my parents and they would not take me back at home after hospitalization. She indicated on forms that I had "borderline personality. disorder" which at 54 years of age, I had never been diagnosed with.. The only choices she gave me were a SMRF called Lake Park Center in Waukegan or a homeless shelter. I was admitted to Lake Park Center which was a low bottom facility for severely mentally ill individuals. I could not sign myself out of the facility and I was there for a year and a half. I am interested in filing a formal complaint against this doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Mirza for over a year now. We have worked on my medications and I feel she truly listens to my symptoms when changing prescriptions. She is very knowledgeable about psychiatric medications.

She was my psychiatrist at Good Samaritan hospital in Downers Grove. She was cold and dismissive. She would blame me for my emotions, and only tell me to journal. She was extremely rude every time we met. I was honestly scared of her because my care was in her hands. She would not educate me on my medications, and said I was overthinking and too anxious every time I would ask questions. After reading all my charts after discharge, I found multiple times when she would switch around what I would say and blatantly lie. I do not know how she is allowed to care for patients with mental ailments.

First and last visit I will ever have with her. From the very first exchange of words, she was horribly rude. I went to introduce myself and she just said my "My office is this way let's go I don't have a lot of time." Her attitude continued as she rushed me through a list of predefined questions. One point during my visit, she started asking about depression within my family. I said yes, she asked for more details. I stated the my brother was suicidal. I kinda started choking up and was having a hard time getting words out. At that point she yelled at me "Well did he succeed or not?!.". I finally said yes... I could not really comprehend what was really going on at that moment or what I should do. So I shut down and tried to answer her as promptly as possible with short yes or no. At the end we went over my prescription history. She of course started to get hostile regard what I have and was currently taking. She finally/grudgingly agreed to write my 2 prescriptions that I have been… taking for many years and have only helped with my struggles. A few days later I dropped off my prescriptions on the 30 day mark and planned to pick them up before work the next day. I received a call that morning from pharmacy (Jewel) stating that they contacted Dr Mirza and and faxed her back the prescriptions she wrote for me. They continued to inform me that she is now not authorizing those exact prescriptions she gave me. Saying that I have copied them, and she did not want to risk her license or take any chances. I tried to inquire on why in the world she would think I would copy any prescriptions. She has seen and has access to all of the medications I've taken for years. She even acknowledged that I have not attempted at all to try and fill another/the same prescriptions then or ever in my past. 1 of my medications has a very high rate for seizures and even death if I stopped taking them abruptly for even just 1 day. She then said that is no longer her problem. And that maybe I should go to the emergency room for help. Then she just hung up on me. The pharmacy will no longer fill any prescriptions of mine stating they do not want to get involved in this situation. Since then apparently Walgreens, CVS and Walmart have somehow been informed and I am in some do not fill system due to her accusations. It was so hard for me in almost every regard to try and get just 1 medication while also trying to figure out how to get the ridiculous and traumatic mark on my name removed somehow. I did manage to make it for a bit with emergency rooms until I could see a previous doctor of mine. Then today I received a letter from her saying she is no longer going to be treating me due to my fraudulent actions. I was never planning on going back to her every, but I know that she is required to give me 30 days notice. No longer be treating me?? She could have been the death of me and made things even worse than they already were... This was such a horrible experience. Her lack of professionalism and and ignorance could have seriously injured me. I would love to try and talk to her rationally to resolve our differences, but I know she would never be rational with me. I only wish there was something I could do or some place I could explain my story to in order help prevent anything like this from happening to anyone else.
