Dr. Nadine Helmy Yassa, MD

Avoid at all costs - Dangerous Lack of Oversite: I cannot stress enough how damaging this doctor and her staff are. I saw Dr. Yassa for almost a year trying to get a diagnosis for serious neurologic symptoms I was having. She was angry, dismissive, and constantly late. At the end of my first visit, in which she never physically touched me, she declared nothing wrong with me with no further comments and left the room. This continued for months of tests, visits, and thousands of dollars. When it was apparent she had no plans to help, Dr Yassa's medical staff were unable to even produce test results run at their facility and provided a different patients information in my chart which they never figured out how to fix. I lost months of potential treatment which really caused my health to deteriorate. Fast forward, I started over with a new neurologist who was able to diagnose my condition and get me on a path to treatment in the first visit. Avoid Dr. Yassa at all costs. She has multiple… medical review board complaints for a reason.

My experience at this office is disappointing, to the say the least. The Neurologist, Doctor Yassa, is approaching her elder years, yet she's completely mindless to the concept of punctuality. Doctor Yassa is consistently late for appointments scheduled well in advance. Worse yet, upon a minimum of two occasions, to my dismay, she never arrived for the appointment. No phone call from her office explaining that it would be necessary to reschedule, just, blatantly absent. If an individual is suffering from a Neurological Disorder, it's likely that the seriousness of their condition is understood. It's imperative that patients search for a medical professional who takes their commitments seriously. In this case, the facade is the title, "MD" which causes individuals to presume a measure of trust. Generally, it's entirely reasonable to entrust a Doctor to make sound decisions concerning a patients medical care. However, be assured, if you're seeking a competent and trustworthy Physician,… you deserve it to yourself to look elsewhere.

Dr. Yassa is a complete professional. She is very good at her job. After being diagnosed incorrectly at another office, I went to her for a second opinion. She diagnosed me correctly and knew exactly how to control my condition. She wasted no time getting a treatment plan together to better my health. I'm completely confident with my health in her hands, she's amazing.

I visited her office for the first-time last week. Everyone was really professional and friendly. Dr. Yassa listened to my concerns and gave great medical advice. I was skeptical about her after seeing some bad reviews but once I met her, she totally put me at ease.

The most incompetent doctor ever. If your child is disabled she is afraid to help

This woman has no business being in the medical field. She makes assumptions based on fear without investigating the facts. I was referred to her through a network of physicians. She wouldn't look at me, treated me horribly, and ran me out of her office, or should I restate that she ran out of the examining room and hid from me after accusing me of being there for illicit drugs; medications controlled federally that I had been on by prescription for over 15 years. The woman is ridiculous and she is a sham as a doctor.

I wonder how many people have died because of her gross negligence and malpractice. I came to her with obvious neurological problems and an abnormal brain MRI. She refused to look at the MRI, performed a 10-15 second physical exam, which entailed having me walk 3 or 4 steps, flip my hands back and forth, and follow her finger with my eyes. (No reflex or strength tests, no sensory response tests...nothing!) And even though I could flip my hands back and forth and follow her finger with my eyes, she suddenly decided that she needed to conduct a series of costly tests, starting with an EEG (electroencephalogram), which would be done in her office. However, she quickly informed my primary care doctor that my unseen MRI was normal. I've since switched health insurance plans because I needed to see a real neurologist, as opposed to a laser hair removal practitioner (Nadine Yassa's day job, seriously). I've finally been seen by a real doctor who has not only looked at my MRI, but… pointed out and explained what's abnormal about it, and ordered relevant tests in order to confirm a diagnosis so that he can begin the appropriate treatment. If you still choose to be seen (and/or submit to being seen) by Nadine Yassa after soooo many negative reviews (I did, because I didn't think I had a choice), here's a strong word of caution: Beware of letting Yassa do an EEG on you. This test is typically indicated for people who are having seizures but sanctions imposed by the Medical Board against Yassa show that she routinely orders them, whether the person is having seizures or not. The danger is in her interpretation of the test she performs and the subsequent medication regimen she may prescribe. If she does the test, try to get a second opinion as to what it reveals, if anything. After all, most of her patients wouldn't know how to read the test and determine for themselves whether it was abnormal. An acquaintance of ours went to her for neurological problems but was not having seizures. Yassa did an EEG, claimed that it showed the person was having seizures (huh! unbeknownst to the patient or any of their family or friends?), prescribed an anti-seizure medication, and soon thereafter the person started having seizures (and lost their driver's license) because that's what can happen when someone takes medication for seizures they weren't actually having. Compared to what a horrible 'doctor' she is, it hardly seems worth mentioning that she made no attempt to present herself as a good person either. She's extremely rude, arrogant, condescending, doesn't listen, doesn't care...Oh! and doesn't see her patients for 1-2 hours after their scheduled appointments. I assumed she might have been busy with her hair removal clientele, but I noticed some of them have complained about the very same thing.

You will be blown away with the excessive wait time. This office schedules there appts every 15 mins and the 2 times I seen her she was well over 1.5 hours late. The amount of time she spends in the office with you doesn't explain why her schedule is always behind because she wasn't even in the office with me for 15 minutes both times. Her staff is not pleasant when asked about the schedule being so far behind. Honestly the experience leading up to my appt's has been so bad that it has been very hard for me to rate her as a doctor. Oh and to top it off they don't allow you do drop off documents for the doctor to fill out so you have to make an appt (and of course WAIT way past your appt time) in order to get the document completed. This just has not been a pleasant experience for me by no means!

The office staff was incompetent, Dr. Yassa was never on time. I wasted $400 on a laser hair removal treatment and I will never refer any patient of mine to her.

My first appointment I waited 2 1/2 hours after my scheduled appointment to be seen. PEOPLE WERE SITTING ON THE FLOOR, because there were not enough chairs in the waiting room. Then I was given less than 20 min of the Dr's time. She charged $1,100 for this appointment and the insurance claim said she had provided me with an 80 min consultation. She is rude and is inconsiderate of other people's time.
