Dr. Nagaraja D Sharma, MD

He was willing to see me (new patient) on very short notice and immediately set me up for an stent procedure. He and his team at the Cath Lab did a great job and he is very personable to go with it all. Recommended!

My mother was referred to Dr Sharma for a cardiac consult. He medicated her and his associate performed a stress test. I called the Oak Hill office where she was treated, to get a diagnosis and care plan. I was told that they could neither page him, nor guarantee getting a message to him. I was told to call the Hudson office. That office told me they would “try” to get the message to him. When I didn’t hear back after a few days, and I was very concerned about my mother’s lethsrgy, I called again at 5 pm, and found out that they work Monday- Friday, 9 AM-5PM, and that after 5 PM there is apparently no way to reach any doctor at this practice. The service even refused to take a message! Fast forward a week, and my mother breaks out in hives. Again, a Saturday morning and no doctor available- it fell on the ER doctor to diagnose it as an allergic reaction to one of the cardiac meds. My mother then spends a month at a nursing facility recovering. She then gets admitted to assisted… living, and is lightheaded. The physician assistant at the ALF cuts her cardiac meds to half the dosage. She called Dr Sharma’s office to schedule a follow up appointment. She’s told by the receptionist that they won’t schedule an appointment for her because she’s missed three appointments! How is it even possible for someone that spent the last two months in a rehab hospital and then a nursing facility to “miss” any appointments when they never scheduled any appointments. Dr Sharma’s office leaving voice messages on my mother’s home phone when she was hospitalized and I’m rehab hardly constitutes an “appointment” to me. He may be a good doctor, I really don’t know, but I do know that the staff at the Oak Hill office is horrible, and that you cannot reach Dr Sharma, Dr Wilson, or any other associate after 5 PM or on the weekend.

I am very sorry to have to write this review but i have to question why such an excellent Doctor would put up with such incompetent staff. There is absolutely NO reason a patient with a follow up after an MI stent procedure would be rescheduled 4 times due to insurance issues. I have a working spouse and his insurance is primary. they INSISTED that it was not and because they wouldn't look it up (a simple Medicare.gov look up would have sufficed) they rescheduled me the twice because they couldn't get their act together. They would rather argue with you. I have a PPO plan and I don't need a referral, but they insisted that they needed one. (Which they never told me) They just let me come in, sit in the waiting room for a half hour and then tell me I would need to be rescheduled. Excuse after excuse. I need follow up care so I will be looking for a new Cardiologist. By the way girls. i have been a nurse for 27 years and have NEVER seen such incompetence. I have worked with… many insurance issues and always made it a point to do whatever was necessary for the care to be delivered. Too bad ....that office needs a clean up.

Dr. Sharma takes time with patients, gets to the "bottom of the problem", is knowledgeable and curious. He has been my cardiologist for the past six years. I was concerned about finding a good cardiologist in the area when we moved here as my previous cardiologist was at Cleveland Clinic which has very high standards. I have not been disappointed.
