Dr. Nancy Bates Allen, MD

We had to wait months to get an appointment to see her and when we finally did it was clear that she couldn’t care less about my daughter’s suffering. She spent about 15 minutes with us. When I read the summary she wrote of the appointment I was shocked. She didn’t even know what race we were, stated a race we are not. Clearly she didn’t read the forms we filled in before the visit. She said come back if it gets worse. My daughter was suffering and not able to have a normal life

Waited 5 months to see her. What a disappointment. She didn't read the records from my precious doctor. Gave no advice nor medication for my arthritis. Did not invite or encourage questions. She was so ill prepared that in the summary of the visit she wrote she described me as being of a race that I am not. I really expected her to be a good doctor from what I read of her on the Duke website. I'm so disappointed. I have been bedridden for 4 years and she concluded the appointment by saying "come back if it gets worse." How much worse did she want it to be before she would treat my arthritis so that I can lead a normal life? I have found a new doctor who is wonderful. She is treating my arthritis and I am doing much better. I suspect that Duke only displays the glowing reviews on their website.

Dr. Allen is a great listener, communicator and healer. I highly recommend her to anyone who is suffering or in pain.
