I was a vulnerable child who saw this woman as a school psychologist. She befriended me, started to take me on trips and blurred the relationship crossing boundaries and looking back, she did not venture to discuss what happened to me that was so horrific in my earlier years causing me to disassociate as a teenager. Instead, I became her companion and someone she discussed her relationship issues with. When I finally said that I had been sexually abused, she did not pursue it, but had a look of horror. I worshipped this woman, and loved her. She told me that she wanted to adopt me but at the time her life was too transient. Our relationship continued and I desperately needed counseling to which was impossible with her. As a young adult I suffered a nervous breakdown due to chronic trauma as a young child, and abuse in the foster home that she recommended. Yes, I am older now and thankfully I met a clinician who has helped me immensely with my trauma. If I had had proper… guidance earlier in my youth, perhaps this would not have been as severe. As it stood, she met a man and I was soon cast aside. I felt like a stray ..in the way. No one should have blurred boundaries while in counseling; even with the best of intentions. I am grateful that I have overcome so many obstacles in healing with a trauma therapist. I had to say something here only because it was so hurtful to me and destructive to my recovery as it was a confusing sort of abandonment. This person needs to have clear ethics, which she lacks.
