Dr. Nancy Kaplan Tancer, MD

I would give no stars if I could. When I was a child, she misdiagnosed me with many different disorders when I was being bullied. By the age of 13, I was on Lithium. I now have autoimmune disease problems that are directly related to the misuse of medications at such a young age. She convinced my parents to send me to an abusive residential program. I am now 26, and the only diagnosis I have is PTSD. When I was 18, another doctor told me that she was wrong on every front. She robbed me of a stable childhood. She also would compare me to her son, who I knew. She'd talk about her own kids, and be on the phone with them or other clients throughout our session. I remember her saying "If you continue down this path, you might end up with Borderline." Who says that?

She NEVER did bloodwork to see how my son's body was handling the cocktail of strong meds, like Seroquel. My now 27 year old has a compromised liver, liver biopsy, elevated liver tests. She is a danger to children. I would avoid her at all costs!!!!

Completely wrong diagnosis and over-medicated my child. It has taken two years for us to undo the damage she caused. There are many competent psychiatrists- take your child elsewhere. We are debating suing her and judging from past reviews, this woman has engaged in malpractice for quite some time.

I do not recommend this doctor. She put my child on a cocktail of medications based on her misdiagnosis, which caused him many problems. Luckily, we switched doctors who weaned my son off the mess she created. One year later, I am happy to say he is med-free and functioning at the highest level. This woman should not be allowed to practice medicine.

Her complete disregard for my son's health was outrageous! She never monitored his blood levels with all the meds she kept prescribing and he wound up needing a liver biopsy! He has paid a dear price over the last 15 years because of her neglect. She should have been sued by my family.

I felt Dr. Tancer listened to my problems and accurately diagnosed me. I went to several doctors before her who could not help Now I feel much better

We are very pleased with our experience at Dr. Tancer's office. She is warm, caring, and very approachable. I was skeptical to see a therapist and feel my experience working with her has improved my situation and life!

Dr. Tancer lacked competence in diagnosis and interpretation of psychological testing. She lacked clinical judgement and knowledge of psychopathology. At times she engaged in unethical behavior. As an adolescent, I was severely misdiagnosed and subsequently over-medicated by her, which had extreme social, medical, and academic consequences for me. It has been over a decade since I took the last pill she prescribed and I am relieved to report that I have been free of any psychopathology since that period of time. Despite her insistance that I would never succeed (I never forgot this), among the degrees I have earned, I am now a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Perhaps she has changed, but based on my experience many years ago, I would not recommend this doctor.
