Dr. Nani Kanen, MD

I’ve been seeing Dr Kanen on and off for over 20yrs. She is thorough & caring. They can take blood & EKG’s in the office which saves time. I never wait more then 15 mins for my appts. I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad experience and the new location is quite lovely (same building). What I like most is her approach to getting a proper diagnosis which is process of elimination, it may cause several tests but at least I know her prognosis are always accurate. I’ll be very sad if she ever decides to retire.

The first time I visited Dr. Kanen, she was with me for approximately 7 minutes. She dismissed my concerns in a very brusque manner and I did not like her bedside manner. I really visited her because I was new to the state and needed a Primary Care Doctor to refer me to an Endocrinologist to get what I needed to manage my condition. Dr. Kanen ordered multiple tests for me that were unnecessary and she never followed up on any of them. I asked her to please give me a referral to an Endocrinologist due to my condition. She ignored my request and ask that I come back in a month for a follow-up. 3 months later I received a bill for $350 (after insurance) for that 7 minute initial visit where she prescribed the same medication and dose that my previous doctor from out of state had prescribed. She provided no info, no expertise, and I did not like how she ignored MY concerns as a patient. She feigns friendliness and like she knows her patients but I really wish I never ever met her. Her… office at Lemi Medical Center is old, gross, and makes you feel ill while waiting there. The 2nd time I (stupidly) went for the follow-up visit, I waited for OVER an hour and then had a 3 minute visit with her. Waste of my time and money and I could NOT recommend her any more. Don't bother.

I saw Dr. Kanen for several years. I found her to be a caring, supportive, professional, and knowledgeable physician who keeps current on medical modalities. I enjoyed her positive attitude and her openness in also using alternative medicine where applicable. I only left her office due to moving out of state. I admit I miss her being my primary care physician and would go back if I was in the area again.

Dr. Kanen is absolutely horrible. My first clue was how dirty the office is. I don't think the rug has ever been cleaned, ever. The office staff, though very nice in person, never ever return phone calls. So they don't answer the phone, they ask that you leave a message and then never return the calls no matter how many times you call or how important the calls are. But Dr. Kanen is something else! I've yet to meet her, but her PA's injected a drug into my elderly friend that is suppose to be injected every 6 months. They did it after 2 months! I contacted Dr. Kanen via Sutter Health email and explained my concern for potential harm in giving her too much of this injection. She answered with she would check with her staff and I've not heard back from her and that was almost 2 months ago. I have sent her 2 emails since and Sutter Health has sent her a message to answer my question. Still no response. My elderly friend also had an infected toe. The assisted living… facility where she lives faxed Dr. Kanen regarding the issue. I called to make an appointment and got the answering machine and of course no call back. I ended up taking my friend to an Urgent Care center where she was diagnosed with a very serious infection. Maybe this Dr. is good with addicts but as an internal medicine doctor I would stay clear from that office. Such a joke!

Where to start!! I can't tell you how greatful and blessed I am to be able to have Dr. Nani Kanen as my physician, this doctor puts her whole heart and soul into taking care of her patients, I have had the same doctor for 36 plus years, I met Dr Kanen through my daughter, and I knew I was missing out!! I switched doctors and very happy I did, coming to my appointments are always good, whatever is my concern, I know Dr. Kanen will do her very best to help me. I cannot say enough for all she does for her patients.

I had surgury involving a stragulated large vascular hernia plus another hernia discovered during surgury as well as built up scar tissue in my abdomen which was scraped and removed. I had only 2. 5 mg percoset a day prescrption which did absolutely nothing. If my boyfriend was not here to lift me off the bed and slowly sit me down on the tiolet,make meals disoense the med i did have because i couldnt move..i would have died ...so i went into dr kanan s office. Yesterday and she presribed something passing it off as an opiod..its synthetic ultrum which does nothing but make my head spun and cause constant nausea and doesn't target the pain also withdrawls were not considered. She was reminded by my boyfriend to call the pharmacy , when we got there she hadn't called and it was after hrs so the pharmacy had to fax them . they wouldnt answer pages...im so sick .still in. bed .I have distictly noticed I'm treated very differently when my boyfriend isnt present. Im rushed in and out and… dr is abrupt. When hes there shes conplimentary and talkative. Im so sad and traumatized by this exoerience .

I was wondering how she is still in business. I have never seen such a irresponsible Dr. And She and the staff were so toxic! I think she is bipolar and dangerous. What a disaster. Not to be trusted. I do not recommend her at all!

Dr.Nani kanen is an amazing doctor all around. I've been under her care for more than 5 years & absolutely have been blessed tohave a wonderful care she provides, in a beautiful, warm, well set office, very nice staff & the most stunnung, the doctor, who is born to be A DOCTOR... Love Dr.Kanen & will recommend anyone without any reservations...

Dr. Khananashvili is an excellent MD. She saved my life with the ability to diagnosis me correctly when many others could not! She really cares about her patients. She stays current within the industry and is always learing more. I am sad that my new insurance is Kaiser and I can no longer see Dr. Kanen (for short). I have referred many friends and coworkers to her clinic and all are very happy with the service of her and her staff!
